It seems like every few months, there’s a new article about how movie stardom just isn’t what it used to be, and how even the biggest names can no longer guarantee a box office smash. Nevertheless, the world’s most popular actors continue to get paid a lot, and not all of them actually make those hefty paychecks worth it.
According to Forbes, the worst value in Hollywood right now is Adam Sandler, whose Jack & Jill and That’s My Boy tanked horribly. He’s followed closely by Katherine Heigl and Reese Witherspoon, and at more of a distance by his pal Kevin James. Find out who the next six are after the jump.

The summer schedule is chock full of sequels we’re dying, or at least very curious to see. This weekend alone has Fast & Furious 6 going up against Before Midnight, for example. Monsters University and The Wolverine are due out in the following months. And so on.
Today, however, we have a trailer for what may be the least-anticipated follow-up of the season. (Least-anticipated by the hardcore movie crowd, that is.) Grown Ups 2 reunites Adam Sandler, David Spade, Kevin James, and Chris Rock in their hometown for still more hilarious shenanigans. The film also brings some fresh blood into the mix, in the form of Taylor Lautner, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Shaquille O’Neil. Watch the video after the jump.

Grown Ups is one of the movies from the past few years that many people love to hate — even those people who haven’t seen it. (Confession: I have not seen Grown Ups.) Presented below, mostly without comment, is the trailer for Grown Ups 2, in which Adam Sandler and Salma Hayek move out of LA and back to their home town. Soon they’re joined by much of the rest of the cast from the first film, and if this trailer is any indication, the hijinks that ensue are wacky.
And keep an eye out for Taylor Lautner, doing comedy on purpose. Read More »

If you ever want to feel bad about your paltry salary, looking into what you favorite A-listers make per film is a good way to do it. No doubt Kristen Stewart works hard on her Twilight movies — it can’t be easy saying some of those lines with a straight face — but can her $25 million payday for Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 really be worth it?
Actually, yes. Forbes has compiled a list of the actors whose movies offer the highest returns for their hefty paychecks, and Stewart comes in at an impressive #2 on the list. The only person who makes a better investment is Natalie Portman, whose Black Swan ultimately grossed 25 times its $13 million budget. Read the full list after the jump.

As Django Unchained prepares for its year-end release, news has broken about one more addition to the already star-studded cast. Rex Linn, who plays Tennessee Harry in the film, recently revealed that Quentin Tarantino himself would appear in a small role — as he has in several of his other directorial efforts, including Inglourious Basterds, Death Proof, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs.
“Quentin told me that he liked the scene so much he wanted to be in it, too, and that he would also be taking some of my lines,” Linn told Look At OKC. “So, you’ll know the scenes when you see them. We’ll be on the screen with Don Johnson and Jonah Hill. The scenes may not be long, but you will remember them.” [via The Playlist]
After the jump: Patrick Stewart might be Professor X again, Kevin James is spotted lurking around the wolf pack, and Skrillex becomes a Disney character.

Thanks to recent films like Jack and Jill and That’s My Boy!, Adam Sandler has taken prominence as the biggest critical comedic punching bag. So when some people see that he’s voicing Dracula in Hotel Transylvania, I’m sure there will be some automatic dismissals of the film.
But while Hotel Transylvania reunites Sandler and his That’s My Boy! co-star Andy Samberg, the film is also from Genndy Taratkovsky, the animation director behind such fare as Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, and Star Wars: Clone Wars. His sensibilities are often great, and his touch is all over this new trailer. And while Hotel Transylvania is pretty silly, it is also a film expressly for kids. (As opposed to Sandler’s other recent adult-skewing material.) So I’m ready to give it a shot. Read More »
