Public Enemies - What Did You Think?
Paul Blart: Mall Cop is an over-performer that has massively exceeded studio box office projections, which of course guarantees the sequel I’ll be coming on to in a minute - but why has it done so well?
Apparently because “a large number of parents bought Mall Cop tickets with their kids (rather than simply dropping off)” and “the film played surprisingly well outside of major cities.” That’s according to the LA Times. They also go on to quote Jeff Black, Sony Pictures Entertainment VP:
“The other secret weapon was that it did proportionally even better in the middle of America than it did in Los Angeles and New York. There’s an audience that maybe isn’t all involved in the Oscar movies.”
/Film reader Jared N sent over this unreleased making of video from Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Who knew that the film was in the works for 15 years and that Kevin James is a method actor? No one, because those facts were made up. Watch this funny faux making of featurette after the jump from the guys at LandlineTV.

For the ten remaining people who still think Kevin James is funny, we bring you the trailer for his new comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Basically, it’s a comic version of Die Hard in a Mall (Kevin Smith should sue) meets the silliness of the Home Alone sequels. James plays a disrespected segway-riding mall security officer who attempts to thwart a criminal’s plan to rob the entire mall overnight.
Mall Cop hits theaters on January 19th 2009.
/Film reader Landon V sent over this teaser trailer for Kevin James‘ new comedy Mall Cop. Judging by this viral teaser trailer, it looks like this movie is going to be pretty bad (not that we ever have high hopes for a Kevin James comedy).
The video begins as a person with a video camera is following a skateboarder as he destroys public property (really, how lame and generic can you get?)and of course, Kevin James - the Mall Cop shows up to put a stop to this mess. The film tells the story of a mall security guard (played by Kevin James) who becomes an unlikely hero when his mall is taken hostage by a group of thieves. Ugly Betty star Jayma Mays plays James’ love interest. And just like in real life, Jayma Mays falls in love with a fat mall cop on a super powered Segway.
/Film reader Chris E sent over a couple set photos from the set of Mall Cop. The movie tells the story of a mall security guard (played by Kevin James) who becomes an unlikely hero when his mall is taken hostage by a group of thieves. Ugly Betty star Jayma Mays plays James’ love interest. And just like in real life, Jayma Mays falls in love with a fat mall cop on a super powered Segway… oh wait, that would never happen in real life.
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry Movie Trailer

I never thought I’d be interested in seeing a comedy about Adam Sandler and Kevin James getting married, but this actually looks some-what promising. The movie trailer for I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (Poster) is now online. Check it out on Yahoo! Movies in High Definition. If my description thus far hasn’t interested you, let me just say there is a sequence in the trailer that involves Jessica Biel in underwear and a bra. Steve Buscemi, Dan Aykroyd, and Ving Rhames also co-star.
The movie hits theaters on July 20th 2007, head-to-head with Hairspray, a week after Harry Potter, and two weeks following Transformers (ie expect this film to probably get lost in the Summer shuffle).

Universal has released the first one-sheet for the Dennis Dugan directed comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. The movie stars Adam Sandler and Kevin James as two straight firefighters who pose as a gay married couple in order to qualify for their department’s domestic partner benefits. “They’re as straight as can be, but don’t tell anyone.” Jessica Biel, Steve Buscemi, Dan Aykroyd, and Ving Rhames co-star.

Dugan was once a great comedy director, having directed some of Sandler’s better films (Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore). Recently however, Dugan has turned out more than a couple bombs: The Benchwarmers, National Security, Saving Silverman, Beverly Hills Ninja, Brain Donors and Problem Child.
The screenplay has had more hands on it than Lindsay Lohan’s breasts: Academy Award winner Alexander Payne (Sideways), Robert Smigel (Triumph the Insult Comic Dog), Barry Fanaro (Kingpin), Lew Gallo (Ocean’s Eleven) and Jim Taylor (Election). I usually say that too many cooks spoil the soup, but what if there are more than a few talented cooks?
The movie hits theaters on July 20th 2007, head-to-head with Hairspray, a week after Harry Potter, and two weeks following Transformers (ie expect this film to probably get lost in the Summer shuffle).
