Fargo TV trailer

Fargo, the series, follows in the footsteps of Fargo, the movie, with the blessing of Ethan and Joel Coen. This isn’t a strict remake, but rather a new “true crime” story that is very much in the vein of the Coen Brothers movie, and which shares the same Minnesota setting and collection of friendly/quirky accents. That said, this new trailer shows that Martin Freeman seems to be doing his darndest to channel William H. Macy’s performance.

Some of the rest of the cast (which includes Billy Bob Thornton, Allison TolmanColin HanksBob OdenkirkKate WalshAdam GoldbergOliver PlattGlenn HowertonJordan PeeleKeegan-Michael KeyJoey King, and Julie Ann Emery) also has their own Coen debt to pay. Whether this will end up being able to stand on its own two feet is open to question now, but this trailer is entertaining enough that we’ll be watching the first episodes of the 10-episode series on FX. It’s something of a crime that Scary Movie 5 is being sold using Danny Elfman’s great theme from Beetlejuice, but since the whole movie looks like something of a crime, I guess it’s just par for the course.

The movie continues the series’ goal of parodying big horror movies, and this trailer incorporates a bunch of gags that riff on Evil Dead and Mama, among other movies. It works about as well as the first trailer did, which is to say that your mileage with this one will probably vary based on

The trailer, which isn’t set up as a red-band, but might not be safe for work thanks to a shower scene. Read More »

Quick, who’s the most obvious cameo to have in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps? I guess I’ve already given it away right there in the headline, but you should have had the answer anyway: Donald Trump. The cameo is so on the nose that I would have disbelieved it if I only read the account from the UK’s Daily Mail tabloid. They make stuff up all the time, after all. But there are photos and everything, of Trump with returning star Michael Douglas, and director Oliver Stone.

We don’t know who Trump plays, but I’d put my money on ‘Donald Trump’. Hopefully it’ll be nothing but a very brief appearance; I’ll have enough trouble looking at Gordon Gekko twenty years later without dealing with the distraction of Trump’s hair. Nic Cage has nothing on that guy.

After the break, a whole slew of actors join the indie Waska.
