As True Detective zeroes in on a female lead, Funny or Die is here to show HBO what they could do with two female leads. Specifically, two extremely small female leads played by Kate Mara and Ellen Page.
In the True Detective parody Tiny Detectives, Mara and Page prove to be every bit as tough, determined, and grizzled as Rust Cohle and Marty Hart ever were. But they face all sorts of challenges that Cohle and Hart never had to, because they’re just so damn short. Watch Tiny Detectives after the jump.

The Martian was originally an e-book by Andy Weir, then it became a screenplay by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) and now that script is the basis for a film directed by Ridley Scott. The concept is a perfect elevator pitch: an astronaut stranded on Mars must survive after a dust storm forces his crew to evacuate, thinking him dead. Matt Damon plays the main astronaut, but this isn’t quite a one-man show. The early presence of the rest of the crew, along with flashbacks and other narrative devices offer roles for many other actors. Now Kate Mara (House of Cards) has been offered a role, and Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire) is in final talks for a part. Read More »
For a massive superhero reboot, Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four had one of the quietest shoots in recent memory. Sure a few photos of the stars leaked here and there, and maybe even a glimpse of the Thing, but for the most part nothing has been spoiled by the press or paparazzi during filming. Which, these days, is a rarity.
So it’s exciting when one of the film’s stars, Kate Mara (who plays the Invisible Woman), jumps on Twitter not only to announce the film is finished, but post a photo of herself with her three co-stars: Mr. Fantastic played by Miles Teller, the Human Torch played by Michael B. Jordan and The Thing played by Jamie Bell.
They’re all in street clothes unfortunately, so no reveal of the Fantastic Four costumes just yet, but it’s a great shot none the less. Check out the Fantastic Four cast photo below. Read More »

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
The reports of casting for Fox’s new Fantastic Four film, to be directed by Josh Trank, have been plagued by more rumor and speculation than most movies of this type, and to date we don’t have any official confirmation of casting choices. So far, Miles Teller is said to be the choice to play Reed Richards, aka the body-stretching Mr. Fantastic, while Michael B. Jordan has long been linked to play Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch.
Now those casting choices are confirmed, and new reports say that Jamie Bell will play Reed’s buddy and eventual teammate Ben Grimm, who becomes the rock-like Thing. And Kate Mara is now firmly linked to the role of Sue Storm, who acquires powers of invisibility and is, consequently, called the Invisible Woman.

If you’ve ever worried that technology might be moving too fast, that computer intelligence could soon move so far past human intelligence that we’re left cowering in the dust, that the machines will then turn around and destroy us, their makers — well, then Kate Mara has some terrible news for you.
According to a viral video from the mysterious revolutionary organization RIFT, computers are indeed the number one threat to humankind right now, and the only way to save our species may be to stop the scientists and unplug the machines. After editing my talk with Jacob Gentry, which featured conversation about the virtues of Kate Mara, I’m ready for the second season of House of Cards right now. The show features Mara as a wily, ambitious journalist that gets too close to a power hungry Congessman (Kevin Spacey), and the first season, overseen by David Fincher for Netflix, was a powerhouse of performances and tight, intricate plotting.
The second season will debut next year, and now we’ve got a long trailer that re-introduces the characters, and throws out a few big themes, too. It’s going to get ugly, and I can’t wait. Read More »
