Before I Wake release

Before I Wake was completed in 2013. Relativity acquired Mike Flanagan‘s (Oculus) horror movie a year later and set a release date for May of 2015. The film, which stars Thomas Jane, Kate Bosworth, and Jacob Tremblay, was pushed back four months. After Relativity ran into some serious financial troubles, its release date was scrapped. Then it was scheduled to come out in April of last year, but then it was then pulled off the release calendar. We’ve heard little about the movie’s status. Until now.

Below, Flanagan explains what happened to the Before I Wake release plans.

blue-crush-tv-show

Blue Crush has its fans. A lot of them, I’d wager. The film performed well enough when it was released in 2002, but it became more popular when it hit home video. Around five years ago a direct-to-video sequel was made by Universal. Beyond the title and surfing, though, Blue Crush 2 has little to do with John Stockwell‘s film. Screenwriter Lizzy Weiss and producer Brian Grazer weren’t involved in the sequel. However, they are developing the Blue Crush television series.

Life on the Line trailer

John Travolta is fantastic in The People v. O.J. Simpson. In season one of FX’s new American Crime series, he’s hilarious as the insecure and loud Robert Shapiro. It’s a big, committed performance, and arguably his best work in years. Earlier this year, we also saw the actor in the action movie I Am Wrath, which didn’t seem to generate much buzz or conversation. We still possibly have two more Travolta movies coming our way before 2016 wraps up, including the promising In a Valley of Violence and possibly Life on the Line, a drama/thriller about a crew power line workers.

Below, watch the Life on the Line trailer.

before i wake trailer

There are a few instances where it’s okay to tell your kids to give up on their dreams. For example, if a child dreams of being a dinosaur, you should probably have a gentle conversation about realistic expectations. Before I Wake proposes another more literal take on this parental dilemma: what if your kid’s nightmares began manifesting in reality and started trying to jump scare you to death?

The Before I Wake trailer gets right down to business. There’s a creepy kid (played by Room‘s Jacob Tremblay), an even creepier dead kid, Thomas Jane and Kate Bosworth looking increasingly concerned about their predicament, and a whole bunch of gross things suddenly popping up on screen.

Homefront

James Franco got pretty weird in Spring Breakers earlier this year, but Alien is a big old teddy bear compared to the unhinged meth kingpin he plays in Homefront. He’s so scary, in fact, that Jason Statham may be the only man who can take him down.

The Gary Fleder-directed, Sylvester Stallone-scripted thriller follows a former DEA agent who retires to a quiet rural community to start a new life with his daughter. But the peace is soon disturbed when he discovers the town’s secret, and the town discovers one of his. A new red-band trailer has hit, and you can check it out after the jump.

Homefront_D16_5393.CR2

In most respects, Gary Fleder‘s Homefront sounds like a pretty typical action thriller. Jason Statham stars as a retired DEA agent, who moves to a small, quiet town for the sake of his young daughter. Once there, however, he quickly gets entangled with the local villain, a drug lord played by… James Franco. Wait, what?

It’s an oddball combination for sure, but it’s also an effective one in that it got our attention right away. In addition to those two, Kate Bosworth, Winona Ryder, and Rachelle Lefevre also star. Oh, and Sylvester Stallone wrote the script based on book by Chuck Logan. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:

Married couple Katie Aselton and Mark Duplass have worked together on a range of projects, including The Puffy Chair and The League, but their latest collaboration looks like a pretty sharp change of pace. Unfortunately for them, different doesn’t always mean better.

Directed by Aselton (The Freebie) from a script by Duplass, Black Rock centers around three women (Aselton, Kate Bosworth, and Lake Bell) on a camping trip on a remote island. They cross paths with a trio of war vets (Will BouvierJay Paulson, and Anslem Richardson) who happily take up the girls’ invitation to join their cozy party. After one sexual encounter takes a very nasty turn, however, the ladies find themselves running for their lives. Watch the trailer after the jump.
