Here’s a very good turn of events for David Cronenberg‘s adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis, which is now scheduled to shoot in late May.

The film stars Robert Pattinson as a young billionaire, who during the course of one day traveling across Manhattan in his limo, manages to cheat on his wife, deal with protesters and another antagonist or two, and encounter some financial trouble. We don’t know who’ll play his wife (Marion Cotillard was once set, and Keira Knightley was rumored, then debunked) but we do know that Paul Giamatti will be one of the antagonists.

And now Juliette Binoche is in the cast, and Mathieu Almaric may be along for the ride, too. Read More »

The Son of No One will close the Sundance Film Festival next week; we had the poster a couple days ago, and now here’s the first very serious trailer. Channing Tatum stars as a cop whose relatively calm life with his wife (Katie Holmes) is threatened by the spectre of an unsolved murder from years in the past. Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Tracy Morgan are all on board, too, with Dito Montiel directing. See the trailer after the break. Read More »

The 63rd Cannes Film Festival has come to a close. And while I still have a couple more reviews to file, I must first write about the awards. Tracy Morgan is set to take a turn in a police drama called Son of No One, in which he’ll play a role originally set for Terrence Howard. Co-stars are Katie Holmes (continuing her comeback streak), Juliette Binoche and Channing Tatum, with Ray Liotta and Al Pacino. Dito Montiel directs.

Channing is the lead character, “a young cop assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, with an old secret surfacing and threatening to destroy his life and family.” Morgan will play a friend of Channing’s character. This could be a good move for the actor; I’d love to see Morgan break away from his increasingly predictable comic persona to show some dramatic chops. [THR]

After the break, Sean Bean and Danny Dyer join a sorta-Ian Fleming biopic and Kate Hudson joins a romance. Read More »

Dan In Real Life Movie PosterDisney has sent us a full media kit for the upcoming Steve Carell family comedy Dan in Real Life. The movie follows an Advice columnist/relationship expert who somehow struggles to succeed as a brother, a son and a single parent in this heartfelt comedy from director Peter Hedges (Pieces Of April). The movie also stars Juliette Binoche, Dane Cook, John Mahoney, Emily Blunt and Dianne Wiest.

The film’s new one-sheet movie poster can be seen to the right. Steve Carell’s head in a pile of maple syrup covered pancakes = funny. You can click on the poster image to enlarge. After the jump we also have two new production photos and the film’s theatrical movie trailer.

I find it curious that Carell has chosen to take the family friendly comedy route considering his big break with the R-Rated 40-Year-Old-Virgin. I also find it funny that family comedy films have adopted a “family friendly” voice-over guy who is less abrasive than the usual deep voiced trailer voice-over guy. Read More »
