Get Out has seriously gone the distance. February 24 will mark one year since the film has been released, and just over a week after that we’ll see the directorial debut from Jordan Peele vying for Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture. That’s a rare feat for a film that hit theaters so early in the qualifying year, especially a horror movie, and that calls for a celebration.

Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele are thanking fans for their support over the past year by teaming with AMC Theatres for special free screenings of Get Out on Presidents’ Day this month, February 19. So if you somehow haven’t caught the compelling and masterful horror thriller, now’s your chance. Get more details on the AMC Theatres free Get Out screenings below. Read More »

Get Out college

Regular movies tend to come and go, but Jordan Peele‘s astonishing directorial debut, the four-time Oscar nominated Get Out, is more than just a regular movie. It’s a cultural touchstone with imagery that instantly became iconic, a deeply layered satire, and an exploration of race and relationships that has made an indelible impact on the world in the year since it debuted.

You may remember seeing that the film inspired a college course last year (Peele himself famously dropped in once while class was in session), and now the people who teach that course have opened it up to the general public. Read more about the Get Out college course below.

In a new video, Peele answers fan questions about the movie and responds to some Get Out fan theories, including one that wonders whether the entire movie is the delusion of Rod the TSA agent. (Spoiler alert: it’s not!)

Get Out Golden Globes

What began as an amusing piece of awards season news has blown into a much larger conversation. Jordan Peele‘s Get Out, one of the best and most financially successful movies of 2017, has been categorized as a comedy by Hollywood Foreign Press Association. That means that it will qualify in the “Best Comedy or Musical” category at next year’s Golden Globes, should it earn the nomination. That’s a weird fit for a horror movie, albeit a horror movie with plenty of comic relief.

Naturally, the internet had a lot of say about this, and now Peele himself has joined the conversation.
