Lionsgate Films have released a second movie trailer for The Take director Brad Furman‘s big screen adaptation of author Michael Connelly‘s novel The Lincoln Lawyer. The film stars Matthew McConaughey as a lawyer who “conducts business from the back of his Lincoln town car while representing a high-profile client in Beverly Hills.” The movie co-stars Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, Bryan Cranston, Josh Lucas, Trace Adkin and John Leguizamo.

Director Brad Anderson is responsible for some of the best low budget thrillers of the past few years. Films like The Machinist and Session 9 have set a pretty high standard and now he’s back with his most ambitious film to date. Vanishing on 7th Street played at the Toronto Film Festival this year and was picked up by Magnet. It stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo in a world where almost everyone has disappeared into thin air and the survivors begin to fear the shadows. Reviews out of Toronto were mixed (check out Peter’s video review here) but this latest trailer is definitely more effective than a similar one that was released before the festival. The film will be On Demand January 7th and hit theaters on February 18. Check out the trailer after the jump. Read More »
This morning, if someone said “You’re going to be reading movie news about two films with the word “Lincoln” in the title today,” you would have laughed in their face.
However, hot off the heels of the big news about Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, we’ve now got your first look at footage from The Lincoln Lawyer. Not to be confused with those little blocks you played with as a kid, The Lincoln Lawyer is a murder mystery starring Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, John Leguizamo, Michael Pena and Josh Lucas. Though Tommy Lee Jones was originally attached to direct, the job eventually went to Brad Furman, who directed 2007′s The Take.
Based on a novel by Michael Connelly, The Lincoln Lawyer looks like Primal Fear with a little more street as a lawyer who conducts business from the back of his Lincoln and gets wrapped up in a high profile case. Lionsgate will release The Lincoln Lawyer on March 18. Check it out the trailer the jump. Read More »

We’ve seen images from Brad Anderson‘s new film Vanishing on 7th Street, and knew that it stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo. But we haven’t known much about the film. Now there’s a little set of behind the scenes interviews that give a few tiny details away, as well as a new poster and some other materials, including clips of much of the film’s score, by Lucas Vidal. Brad Anderson is a filmmaker I keep expecting to break out at any time. He’s made some great smaller thrillers with cultish appeal (Session 9, The Machinist) and built a good parallel career directing episodes of well-loved television shows: The Shield, The Wire, Treme and Fringe. But he hasn’t had the crossover movie yet.
Now Anderson is finishing up Vanishing on 7th Street, a thriller that stars Thandie Newton, Hayden Christensen and John Leguizamo. The full official synopsis and some first images are after the break. Read More »
I didn’t have much doubt that a distributor would quickly move on Sylvain Chomet‘s The Illusionist. (Refer back to our previous articles detailing the film, which has origins in an unproduced screenplay by the great Jacques Tati and features a character very much designed after Tati.) In fact, I didn’t have much doubt that it would be anyone other than Sony Pictures Classics, which also released Chomet’s film The Triplets of Belleville. Hopefully SPC can find an audience for this picture; it looks simply beautiful. Check some previously posted footage below. [Variety]
After the break, a distro deal and some new casting for the promising film The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Here are two quick casting notes that, in a busier week, might normally just make Page 2. But hell, any excuse to post a photo of Christina Hendricks is a good one, so I’m going to run with this. Also, news on Brad Anderson‘s (Session 9, The Machinist) new project, which just got Hayden Christensen in the lead.
