The cast of Avengers: Infinity War is already bursting at the seams. But we maybe could have forgiven one more addition to the sprawling ensemble if it promised a potential X-Men crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Alas, that is no more than a pipe dream. Or is it? Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo entertained our superhero crossover dreams by revealing what character would be on their wishlist for an Avengers appearance: Wolverine.

The cast of Avengers: Infinity War is growing to impossible numbers, adding new members every day (though it just can’t seem to make room for Jeremy Renner). Avengers Infinity War james gunn

Avengers: Infinity War is poised to take over the world when it hits theaters in April. And it already has a rave review from one Marvel director.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn ushered his motley crew of galaxy-saving heroes into the MCU, turning them into an uber-popular team that threatened to dethrone the Avengers. So it would be natural that he would feel possessive of them, or least nervous that Star-Lord and co., are in the hands of other directors. But it looks there’s nothing to be worried about.

mjolnir in infinity war

Things looked pretty dire for Thor and his hammer Mjolnir during the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. While I have no doubt that Thor will pull through since actor Chris Hemsworth appears in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, it didn’t seem that way for Mjolnir, which found itself smashed to pieces by Cate Blanchett‘s evil Hela.

But with a new set photo of Infinity War courtesy of directors Anthony and Joe Russo showing an alright-looking and fairly un-smashed Mjolnir prop, it looks like that dire fate may not be permanent for Thor’s hammer.

The upcoming two-part Avengers: Infinity War will represent the grand climax of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. Expect to see old standbys like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk team up with upcoming characters like Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther. Even the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to show up. These movies will encompass just about everyone.

Well, everyone who has appeared on the big screen. Fans hoping to see characters from the television corner of the MCU shouldn’t get their hopes up and Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo is already trying to cushion the blow. Read his Infinity War Defenders comments after the jump.

Scarlett Johansson Black Widow Civil War

There are many questions surrounding the 2016 film, Captain America: Civil War, and slowly they’re being answered. We already know the basics: Film one of Phase Three will come from the same writers and directors of The Winter Soldier, and most of the cast will be back, with new additions Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman as Iron Man and Black Panther. The crux of the film will be a disagreement between Iron Man and Cap (Chris Evans) but there will be other foes as well, primarily Crossbones, played by Frank Grillo.

We recently learned that the film would be similar in tone to The Winter Soldier and Peggy Carter might play a small role too. But what about the rest of The Avengers, especially those who don’t have their own solo films in Phase Three? Well, directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently did an interview and confirmed at least one of them will appear in Civil War. Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as Black Widow come May 6, 2016. When done correctly, you never even think of the power of digital effects. You sit down, you watch a movie, and you let the story wash over you. You never once think about the crazy amount of work that went into it. When you finally do step back and look at the incredible work and detail put into every single frame of every movie you watch, it’s staggering.

Part of the reason we can eventually appreciate the work of digital effects are videos like the one below.
