Bill Murray

Bill Murray hasn’t expressed much of an interest in fighting ghosts lately, but he’s evidently not opposed to becoming one. The former Ghostbusters star has joined the starry voice cast of B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations, along with Octavia Spencer and Jennifer Coolidge.

Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Rashida Jones, and Matt Bomer were already part of the lineup. Hit the jump to find out just what kinds of ghosts Murray and the others will be playing.

Austenland

The elaborate courtship rituals of Jane Austen’s England bear little resemblance to the no-strings hookups and domestic partnerships of the 21st century dating scene, but that hasn’t stopped modern romantics from hoping to find a Mr. Darcy of their very own. In the Sundance romcom Austenland, one particularly hardcore fan gets an opportunity to do just that.

Keri Russell stars as Jane Hayes, who splurges on a trip to an Austen-themed resort complete with Regency costumes, era-appropriate activities, and even handsome suitors (played by paid actors). But the experience isn’t all she’d hoped, and in her disillusionment she finds herself increasingly drawn to “stableboy” Martin (Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords). Watch the first trailer after the jump.

As someone who was roughly the same age as the American Pie gang when the first film dropped — and who then followed the group through 2001′s American Pie 2 and 2003′s American Wedding — I’m finding it tough to separate American Reunion from the haze of nostalgia surrounding it. But that’s part of the point, of course. Much like an actual reunion, American Reunion exists for no other reason than to check back in with the East Great Falls Class of ’99. While it falls flat as a standalone film, for fans of the series, the pleasure of spending time with familiar faces once more outweighs the movie’s many flaws.

As someone who was almost the same age as the central characters when the first American Pie was released in 1999, I am totally, unironically excited to see the East Great Falls crew together again for American Reunion, even as I suspect I’ll find the franchise has lost some of its charm over the past decade. Still, the marketing so far has been pretty solid, and I’m thrilled to see that even as some things have changed — they’re no longer virgins, for one — others have remained exactly the same.

The new international trailer sees returning stars Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Tara Reid, John Cho, Eugene Levy, and Jennifer Coolidge all coming back home for the all-important high school reunion, while franchise newcomers Dania Ramirez and Katrina Bowden make appearances as well. The debut red-band teaser for American Reunion, which brings together all the original characters from American Pie, was all about sex — or the fact that, even as adults, some of the former kids still aren’t getting off the way they want to.

This all ages trailer is all about partying, as the Pie guys (and girls) get back together after a few years to enjoy their high school reunion. While the red-band was amusing up to a point, this trailer seems to be avoiding all jokes, perhaps so they can be fresh in the full movie. But if you want to see Stifler in prime shouting mode, and the possible hookup of a couple Pie parents, check out the trailer below. Read More »

There’s some bad and some good in today’s TV Bits, but I’d say there’s more of the latter — more Shameless, more Homeland, more Jennifer Coolidge, and Olga Kurylenko in late ’50s Miami all count as pluses, right? After the jump:

  • Showtime’s Shameless get a Season 2 trailer — and invites fans to play Truth or Dare with one of the characters
  • Starz debuts a trailer for Magic City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, and Danny Huston
  • CBS gives full season orders to Unforgettable and Person of Interest
  • Showtime renews freshman series Homeland
  • Jennifer Coolidge signs on for CBS’ 2 Broke Girls
  • Jenna Elfman boards the fifth season of DirecTV’s Damages
  • Starz’ Boss loses its two showrunners
  • ABC’s Pan Am gets a new showrunner

The American Pie kids are all grown up, but that doesn’t mean that things have fundamentally changed. An adult-oriented teaser for American Reunion has arrived, and it shows how delicately the film handles the topic of finding time to jerk off when you’ve got a kid. Check it out below.

We’re already aware of many of the plot points that’ll be covered in American Reunion, the forthcoming eighth(!) installment of the American Pie franchise. Basically, the new film will see the whole gang from the first film come together once more for their high school reunion. Some things will have changed; other things not so much. (I’m going to guess that the gross, raunchy humor will be part of the “not so much” category.)

Now a new synopsis has been revealed, and it reveals just one more tidbit: Apparently, one of the characters is still pining for a certain lusty lady whom he bedded in the original American Pie. (Um, spoilers for a twelve-year-old movie.) Read the studio-approved official plot details after the jump.
