Apparently at some point in the past decade, Garry Marshall decided he could not rest until he’d turned every major holiday into a middling ensemble romcom. Having already put out Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve, he’s now turned his attention to Mother’s Day. This one stars Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Jason Sudeikis as a loosely interconnected group of people with all kinds of mommy issues. Even though the movie is called The Angry Birds Movie, based on the popular mobile game of the same name, it looks like there’s really only one angry bird here. Red, a bushy-eyebrowed bird with a temper problem, is voiced by Jason Sudeikis. While his anger seems to be giving him some grief in everyday life, his short fuse also seems to be the only thing that allows him to see that the recently arrived green pigs are out to steal their eggs. And if you’ve been waiting to see some birds in a slingshot in this movie, the new Angry Birds Movie trailer should do the trick. Read More »

Jason Sudeikis got his start on Saturday Night Live, and he still does his fair share of goofy comedies — he’ll be voicing one of the angry birds in Angry Birds, for example. But recently, he’s also started to emerge as a viable romcom leading man. He did excellent work opposite Alison Brie in last year’s Sleeping With Other People, and now he’s following it up with the indie dramedy Tumbledown.
His leading lady here is Rebecca Hall, the still-grieving widow of a musician. When Sudeikis’ Andrew, a pop culture scholar, arrives to conduct some research on her late husband, she treats him with hostility at first, but… well, if you’ve ever seen a romcom before, you can probably guess where this is going. Production is underway right now on Colossal, the next film from Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Open Windows, Extraterrestrial). The film is shooting in Vancouver with Anne Hathaway on board the project that has been described as Lost in Translation meets Godzilla (we’ll explain that below). And now one more cast member has just been added.
The Guest star Dan Stevens has taken one of the male leads in the film that has a very strange premise that seems to somehow blend romance and monster movies. Find out more about Dan Stevens joining Colossal and just what the movie is about after the jump. Read More »

Video game movies don’t have the greatest track record, but recently we’ve noticed some attempts to battle that trend. Duncan Jones is going wildly ambitious with Warcraft, while Macbeth director Justin Kurzel has amassed a Shakespeare-worthy cast for his take on Assassin’s Creed.
And then there’s Angry Birds, which turns a simple, colorful game about warring animals into a simple, colorful movie about warring animals voiced by big-name stars. It might not sound as prestigious as Warcraft or Assassin’s Creed, but it looks a heck of a lot cuter and more family-friendly. Watch the first The Angry Birds Movie teaser trailer after the jump. Romantic comedies usually don’t impress me. They’re just not my cup of tea unless I really like the on-screen talent involved. More often than not it’s the indie romantic comedies that bring something fresh enough to shake up the subgenre to make it entertaining and sincere, and that’s exactly what happens with Sleeping with Other People.
The Sundance selected movie from Bachelorette writer and director Leslye Headland features Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis as two two sex addicts unable to commit to real relationships who decide to hold each other accountable for their destructive behavior and strike up quite the strong bond. So strong that they begin to act like a couple, even though they’re not, and you know what that means
This is an R-rated romantic comedy so the new Sleeping with Other People red band trailer is the best way to get the right vibe from this hilarious, authentic romance. Watch the new trailer below! Read More »
One of my favorite films from this year’s Sundance Film Festival was the raunchy romantic comedy Sleeping with Other People, starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie. Thankfully, IFC Films picked up the indie from the festival, and you’ll be able to see it in theaters in just a few weeks.
In the meantime, a new international trailer for the film has just surfaced, and be prepared to watch it somewhere privately, because even though it’s not an official red band trailer, it’s still a little NSFW, due to some pretty risque conversation topics. The major culprit is Sudeikis explaining to Brie how to touch herself in a very intimate way.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have found a leading man for their new project. No, not the Han Solo spinoff — Son of Zorn, their live-action / animation hybrid series for Fox. Jason Sudeikis will play Zorn, an animated barbarian struggling to reconnect with his life-action family.
Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows, and Artemis Pebdani have also signed on. More on the Son of Zorn Jason Sudeikis casting after the jump. Read More »

After a few years’ hiatus, Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve director Garry Marshall is resuming his quest to turn every holiday on the calendar into a middling ensemble comedy. The next one on his list is Mother’s Day, and he’s already attracted quite the high-profile cast including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Jason Sudeikis.

IFC Films has released the first trailer for Sleeping With Other People, director Leslye Hedland‘s follow-up to her 2012 indie hit Bachelorette. This one stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie as two former hookups who reconnect after twelve years. Seeing as they’re both terrible at relationships, they pledge to stay just friends. However, it becomes increasingly difficult to deny the attraction between them.
In other words, Sleeping With Other People is basically When Harry Met Sally… for assholes. Which is not an insult, by the way — that’s how Hedland herself describes the movie. And really, as great as that romcom classic still is, it’s about time we got a 21st century update. Watch the Sleeping With Other People trailer after the jump. Read More »
