SAVING MR. BANKS

There’s a certain kind of stress that comes with watching a favorite book get adapted into movies, and I can only imagine that the process must be even more nerve-wracking for the authors of those books. It can’t be easy for them to see their work chopped up and rearranged, or to find that what soars on the page drops with a thud on the screen.

In Saving Mr. Banks, writer P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) tries to save herself that grief by refusing to hand over the film rights to her Mary Poppins books. But Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) doesn’t give up easily, and, well, if you’ve ever tried to wrap your mouth around the nonsense word “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” you can probably guess how that goes. Watch the first trailer for the fact-based drama after the jump.

Wes Anderson is shooting his new film, Grand Budapest Hotel, right now, with Ralph Fiennes and Saoirse Ronan in the lead roles. Fiennes plays the concierge of the titular hotel, and the cast also includes Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, F. Murray Abraham, Jude Law, and Mathieu Amalric.

Some set pics and videos hit the web last night, showing that the hotel of the title is grand, indeed, as are some of the costumes worn by the cast. Jeff Goldblum’s facial hair is no small matter, either. Check them all out below.

Update: At the request of Fox, we’ve pulled the images.

There’s no better place than the Oscars to see all your favorite movie stars assembled in one place, but the trailer for Jimmy Kimmel‘s Movie: The Movie V2 might be a close second.

In his post-Oscars show last year, Kimmel debuted an epic, star-studded 9-minute trailer poking fun at every obnoxious movie trope under the sun. This year, he’s back with an even more epic, even more star-studded trailer for Movie: The Movie V2. Because as Kimmel quips, “When you have a big success in Hollywood, there’s only one reasonable thing you can do, and that is cheapen it with a sequel.”

Watch Movie: The Movie V2 after the jump, followed by Kimmel’s other big movie parody, Life of Psy. Yup, that’s exactly what it sounds like.

Fans of Bored to Death no longer have to feel sad and lonely. HBO is now officially developing a feature film based on the cult detective series that stars Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zack Galifianakis. Roman Coppola‘s second directorial effort, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, is on VOD now and will be in theaters on February 8. We’ve seen a couple trailers already for this film, in which Charlie Sheen plays a graphic designer who has a meltdown after being dumped by his girlfriend.

But this new red-band trailer is pretty great. It features Sheen and co-star Jason Schwartzman in costume, but not in character, introducing the footage. Well, it isn’t really footage, but a Monty Python-esque animated collage of stuff to represent just what is inside Charles Swan III’s mind.

And while I’d like to use a much more vibrant header image from the trailer, most of what’s inside Swan’s mind is naked women. Very tastefully shown naked women, but all the same. Just watch the trailer below, as long as you’re not at work. Read More »
