Jean Grey Cyclops

Bryan Singer is preparing to shoot the next X-Men movie, X-Men Apocalypse, which takes place after Days of Future Past. That means the younger First Class cast will be around, but a new generation of X-Men — the generation which is already grown in the original series of films — has to come on board. Specifically, that means the characters Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm, played by Famke Janssen, James Marsden and Halle Berry in the previous movies.

We’d heard rumblings of some major actresses being up for the Jean Grey role but they’ve all moved on. Now there’s a new crop of actors not only up for Jean Grey, but Cyclops and Storm as well. Find out who might join the X-Men Apocalypse cast below. Read More »

If I Stay

Chloë Grace Moretz is no stranger to (onscreen) life-or-death situations. She’s played a superhero, a vampire, and a telekinetic outsider with a furious grudge. But she’s never been in one quite like this.

Directed by R.J. Cutler (The September Issue) and based on the novel by Gayle Forman, If I Stay stars Moretz as a bright, talented teen who falls into a coma after a car accident kills the rest of her family. She’s faced with a choice — wake up an orphan and get about the hard work of moving on, or let go and die with her loved ones. Jamie Blackley plays her punk rock boyfriend, who may just give her something to live for.

Briefly: The cast is shaping up for Noam Murro‘s prequel to the unexpected blockbuster hit 300. The film, 300: The Battle of Artemisia, is scripted by Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad based on Frank Miller‘s graphic novel Xerxes, and we’ve had a couple major cast announcements in the past few weeks: Sullivan Stapleton is playing Greek warlord Themosticles; Rodrigo Santoro is returning to play the Persian leader Xerxes; and Eva Green will be the title character Artemisia.

Now Jamie Blackley, recently seen (by some) in William Monahan’s London Boulevard and soon to be on screens in Snow White and the Huntsman, has been cast in a role that is described as one of the co-leads of the film. He’ll be Calisto, “a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers.” [Deadline]
