Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 trailer breakdown

Not all of the key players in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were originally going to return for a second round. One character that was originally going to bite the dust? Nebula (Karen Gillan), the sadistic adopted daughter of Thanos (Josh Brolin) and stepsister to Gamora (Zoe Saldana).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Cast

Hollywood is sorta-kinda starting to introduce gay characters into family films (even though the results can sometimes be pretty half-assed). Last month, Power Rangers introduced a gay team member and Beauty and the Beast introduced Walt Disney Studio’s first gay character. Now it seems that Marvel might be joining in with an LGBT character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Here’s what we know about a possible gay Guardians of the Galaxy team member.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 junket

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the press junket for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in West Hollywood. Peter Sciretta and I will be publishing individual interviews with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, writer/director James Gunn, and actors Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell here on the site in the days leading up to the film’s release next week. In the meantime, I collected ten pieces of info we gleaned at the junket’s two press conferences, which featured key members of the creative team and nearly every major member of the movie’s cast.

In addition to the folks mentioned above, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillain, Sean Gunn, and Sylvester Stallone were all in attendance. Read on to discover what we learned from the spirited group interviews.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Review

Next week will bring Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to theaters. The advanced test screening scores were more than promising (they received the highest audience scores of any Marvel Studios film), and the brief reactions from the first press screenings had plenty of positive things to say. Now we have a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 review round-up that gives us a little more insight into what works in James Gunn‘s cosmic comic book sequel and what doesn’t. In general, it sounds like the movie is still wholly entertaining, but it’s not quite as good as the franchise starter that came before it.

Check out the excerpts in our Guardians of the Galaxy 2 review round-up below. Read More »

Guardians of the Galaxy Double Feature

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) make for a great team in Guardians of the Galaxy. They work so well together it’s hard to imagine one without the other. We may see them disband at some point, though, and maybe after Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which Gunn called the other day “the end of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Below, learn more about a possible change-up for the Guardians of the Galaxy team that’s likely very far off into the future.

guardians of the galaxy trilogy

We knew the third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy may spell the end for the team as we know it, but it looks like it will wrap up the loose ends before dismantling everything.

James Gunn is planning to make his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy one complete story. The Guardians will make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War before their third outing as a team, but then that may be the last we see of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. But don’t worry: though Gunn may be wrapping up his flagship series, this won’t be the last we see of him with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When I was on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, director James Gunn mentioned that his original treatment for the sequel featured another major character. Today, during my interview with Gunn, the filmmaker finally revealed that his sequel originally had a major role for Adam Warlock, strongly indicating that Warlock will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Read on for the full story, including why he was cut out.

guardians of the galaxy 3 end current team

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but director James Gunn is already looking ahead to the next volume in his space romp saga.

Gunn recently confirmed that he’ll be returning to direct the third installment of his wildly popular superhero movie, and thus help shepherd in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the the next decade of the MCU may shake up the galaxy as we know it, with Gunn hinting that the current “iteration” of the Guardians team won’t make it through the next film.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Soundtrack

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, and while seeing the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest draw of the sequel, the film’s soundtrack is also a big deal for fans. We’ve gotten a tease of some of the songs that will be in the movie by way of various trailers and TV spots, but James Gunn has cautioned that not all of those songs will be on the soundtrack or Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 2. Now we don’t have to wonder which songs will make the cut any longer.

Marvel has just released the full tracklist for Awesome Mix Vol. 2, and it’s quite the funky assembly of music, with plenty of tracks that are well known and some that are a little more obscure. Check out the full Guardians of the Galaxy 2 soundtrack setlist below. Read More »
