James Bond’s ability to fill out a tux is the stuff of legend, as is the beauty of his many female associates. All of which should make it very easy indeed for the Skyfall marketing team at Sony to put out one sharp-looking ad campaign. A new banner and series of posters feature stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, and Javier Bardem, all dressed up and doing their best Blue Steels in front of a stark black and white 007 logo.

Meanwhile, the vibe behind the scenes looks a little more relaxed. Photographer Greg Williams got on set to capture images of the Skyfall team at work and play, and has assembled the pictures into a gorgeous coffee table book called Bond on Set. Check out the new posters and preview Williams’ book after the jump.

Though Skyfall stars some familiar faces, including Judi Dench and, of course, Daniel Craig, the cast list also includes many more that we don’t know so much about. Some fresh info has just dropped on some of those franchise newcomers — the characters played by Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, and Ola Rapace, to be specific. After the jump, check out new photos of Bardem in villain mode, and read up on details about what Harris and Rapace will be doing in the film.

After months — years, really — of rumors about the next James Bond film, it’s nice to finally have some actual facts to sink our teeth into. As shooting on the film began today, director Sam Mendes, his producers, and several of his stars held a press conference giving away some tidibts about the film we’ve been referring to as Bond 23. Among the things we’ve learned: the actual title of the film, which characters some of the actors will be playing, and a basic concept of the plot. More details after the jump.

Confirmed details on Sam MendesBond 23 are still scarce, but it seems screenwriter John Logan may have let slip a very useful detail about the villain. At a talk earlier this week, Logan hinted that iconic Bond baddie Ernst Stavro Blofeld just might be making an appearance in the upcoming film. Logan didn’t go so far as to actually announce anything, but hey, until we have a better idea of the plot, we’re gonna sit here and read into every dubious crumb of information that gets out. Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly leading the pack of actresses vying for David O. Russell‘s The Silver Linings Playbook, ahead of the likes of seemingly every rising (or recently risen) starlet in town. Elizabeth Banks, Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Andrea Riseborough, and Olivia Wilde were all among Lawrence’s competitors for the part. If the deal closes, Lawrence would begin shooting this fall after The Hunger Games wraps.

Based on a novel by Matthew Quick, the film will star Mark Wahlberg as a former high school teacher who’s just been released from a four-year stint at a mental institution, into the care of his mother. Lawrence would be playing a troubled young widow who eventually becomes a love interest for Wahlberg’s character. [ThePlaylist]

After the jump, Annette Bening mothers Kristen Wiig and Rhys Ifans gives some disappointing news.

LOL: Michael Sheen as Bond Villain Blofeld

A while back, it was rumored that British actor Michael Sheen was in talks to play Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the next James Bond movie. Blofeld is one of the classic Bond villains, having appeared in three of Ian Fleming’s novels and six of the Bond films. His appearance has changed over the years — sometimes he looks like a bald, scarred Donald Pleasance, other times like a handsome, bearded Max von Sydow. But his most recognizable trademark is his fluffy white cat, which he’s frequently seen petting in a most sinister way. (If you couldn’t guess, Blofeld is the inspiration for the Dr. Evil character from the Austin Powers films.)

Sadly, the Sheen rumor has since been proved to be false. Thanks to an appearance by Sheen on BBC Two’s Ruth Jones’ Easter Treat, however, we now have an idea of what he might’ve looked like as Blofeld. Watch the video after the jump.

The lion will roar once again. Earlier today we wrote about Darren Aronofsky being interested in returning to MGM‘s remake of RoboCop when and if the troubled studio got everything straightened out. That just happened. A Manhattan judge approved the company’s re-organization plan which will allow them to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy. By doing that they can reduce their debt, gain new capital and in just a few short weeks, begin to start making movies again with a new pair of studio heads: Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum.

Among the projects the company is believed to have prioritized once their business is fully operational is the 23rd James Bond film, which had been postponed indefinitely. In fact, composer David Arnold told one magazine that the film is officially back on. Read more about all of this after the jump. Read More »
