Losers Club, It

I’m about 50 pages away from finishing Stephen King’s 1986 novel It, and holy crap, this book is tremendous. Without hyperbole, it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. Rarely have I read a novel in which I’ve felt so firmly in the grip of a master storyteller – and I wasn’t crazy about the first Dark Tower book, so that praise isn’t coming from a fawning King devotee, either.

We’ve already seen a handful of photos from the upcoming film adaptation directed by Andres Muschietti, but a new batch of photos show off glimpses of the terrifying clown Pennywise (the “It” of the title) and our first look at the Losers Club, the group of outcast kids in Derry, Maine who come face to face with their worst nightmare. The new, long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King‘s It is currently (and finally) in post-production. Last year, the R-rated adaptation appeared in trouble after director Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) parted ways with New Line Cinema over some creative differences, which was a definite blow to the project. Director Andrés Muschietti‘s (Mama) ultimately stepped in, reworked the script, and shot the horror film over the summer, and he shared plenty of images during the shoot, teasing locations and parts from the book. Now a couple more images of Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) has been released.

Midnight Special Trailer

Director Jeff Nichols has delivered two rich, fantastic indies with Mud and Take Shelter, but now we’ll get to see how he fares with a studio sci-fi flick, Midnight Special.

The film follows young St. Vincent star Jaeden Lieberher, a young boy who has mysterious supernatural gifts, forcing him and his father (Michael Shannon, because of course) to go on the run from agents who just don’t understand his powers.
