Dominic Cooper Captain America

While Dwayne Johnson‘s plans to play DC’s Lobo were dashed earlier this year, he could still find his way to another superhero movie if Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has his way.

I think yeah, I mean his name has come up in the past. I’m a gigantic fan of his, I think he’s an incredible – I might have met him once a long time ago, but I haven’t really met him. I don’t really know him – but I think he’s an unbelievable personality and an unbelievable sort of force of nature. He’s awesome in Pain & Gain, he was great in G.I. Joe, he’s really kind of an amazing human being. His Twitter’s always cool and he promotes the hell out of everything he does. I would love him to be part of the Marvel universe somewhere, someday.

Johnson would be a fun addition to the MCU, though Feige doesn’t say exactly how the actor might fit in. Johnson has previously expressed his interest in playing Luke Cage, though as far as we know there’s no Luke Cage project in the works right now. (Well, S.H.I.E.L.D. rumors notwithstanding.) Who would you like to see him play? [Collider]

After the jump, Dominic Cooper is returning for the Captain America sequel, and Mark Ruffalo talks The Avengers 2 and Iron Man 3.

Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took to Twitter Friday morning, as @Iron_Man, to answer some fan questions about Iron Man 3, which is currently in theaters. Most of them were the usual fan questions (“Who would win in a fight, Iron Man or RoboCop”) but he did give some insight into the upcoming films too.

For example, Feige said that we would see Extremis again in future films. He also said the reason S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn’t help Tony Stark in Iron Man 3 is because they were very busy, as will be revealed in future films, an obvious reference to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Read More »

Wang Xuequi Iron Man 3 2

Audiences worldwide will eventually get to see the extended Iron Man 3 scenes that were exclusive to China. Director Shane Black shot several scenes in the country, with native actors Wang Xueqi and Fan Bingbing, that are all but absent from the domestic cut of the film. They remain in Chinese theaters, but reportedly don’t add much.

Now it seems those scenes will be at the center of an upcoming Marvel short film tentatively called The Prologue. Read More »

War Machine Falcon

While Marvel movies are usually about one big name hero, there’s a lot of joy in the supporting characters. Two of the most intriguing ones, at least in Phase 2, are Don Cheadle‘s Colonel James Rhodes, aka War Machine/Iron Patriot, from Iron Man 3 and Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Each are formidable fighters in their own right; they just happen to play second fiddle to Iron Man and Captain America.

And that’s where they’ll remain for now. In a new interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said there are no current plans to develop spin-off films based on those characters. Read More »
