As the race for the year’s most coveted trophies came to a close with this weekend’s Oscars ceremony, another much less prestigious awards competition was just getting started. Nominations have been announced for the 32nd Razzie Awards, handed out to the “worst achievements in film” each year.
Leading the 2012 list is Adam Sandler, whose involvement in Jack and Jill, Bucky Larson, and Just Go With It earned him a record-breaking eleven Razzie nominations. That’s more than twice as many as the previous record holder, Norbit star Eddie Murphy, received in 2007. Other standouts include Nicolas Cage, Ken Jeong, Sarah Palin, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I, and The Hangover Part II. After the critical annihilation Sex and the City 2 got, most of us didn’t think we’d see a third film. And while, technically, we still haven’t, the trailer for I Don’t Know How She Does It, starring Sarah Jessica Parker as an overworked, professional New Yorker complete with self-aware voiceover and beautiful friends, sure feels like it. Based on a popular British book by Allison Pearson, the film is about a woman who has to balance her life in the financial fast lane along with her family and friends. Directed by Douglas McGrath (Emma) it also stars Pierce Brosnan, Kelsey Grammer, Olivia Munn, Christina Hendricks, Seth Meyers, Jane Curtin and Greg Kinnear. The Weinstein Company will release it September 16. Check out the trailer after the jump. Read More »
Fans who were anxiously anticipating the Timur Bekmambetov-produced found footage horror film Apollo 18, scheduled for release April 22 (which itself was already a shift) are in for about eight months of disappointment. The Weinstein Company has bumped the film to January 6, 2012. They also bumped Piranha 3DD from September 16 to November 23, while adding dates for Our Idiot Brother (which was called My Idiot Brother when we loved it at Sundance) and I Don’t Know How She Does It. The former, starring Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Zooey Deschanel will be released August 26 and the latter, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan and Kelsey Grammar among others will take Piranha‘s date, September 16.
