Ever since getting a taste of the history between Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in The Avengers, fans have been hoping for a standalone movie following either or both of the former agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for their own adventure. For many stars, a Marvel contract means the possibility of a standalone movie, or several of them. Robert Downey Jr. has had three already, and Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth have had two each. Even Scarlett Johansson has been happy to play up the Black Widow movie rumors, though Kevin Feige‘s been dragging his feet about confirming anything just yet.
But there hasn’t been much chatter about a potential Hawkeye solo film — and Jeremy Renner, for one, seems totally okay with that. Instead, he’s looking forward to showing off his archery skills in Avengers: Age of Ultron and probably (wink, wink) Captain America 3. Hit the jump to read the new Jeremy Renner Hawkeye movie comments.

Two pretty big rumors regarding The Avengers 2 are whipping around the Web today, so we figured they were worth a look. The first one seems most plausible. It concerns the possible inclusion of the Black Panther in the sequel and the hint comes from the chairman of South Africa’s Cape Town Film Studios. He said Marvel has been in contact about filming the Joss Whedon sequel there.
The second rumor is that Hawkeye could be recast. Jeremy Renner played the character in Thor as well as The Avengers, but citing a lack of activity in Phase Two and his negative comments about his role in The Avengers, one source believes the character could become the next War Machine or Hulk.
