We knew the third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy may spell the end for the team as we know it, but it looks like it will wrap up the loose ends before dismantling everything.
James Gunn is planning to make his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy one complete story. The Guardians will make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War before their third outing as a team, but then that may be the last we see of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy. But don’t worry: though Gunn may be wrapping up his flagship series, this won’t be the last we see of him with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There are few sure things. The Earth is round. The sky is blue. The Pope is Catholic. Marvel Studios always has another sequel up their sleeve. So when Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn says that there will most definitely be a third film in the comic book space opera series, the big news isn’t that another movie is coming. If you ever want to have a chance of begging your way into the cast of a Marvel movie, here’s what you have to do. Step one: go back in time and start a rock band. Step two: be good enough at the rock band thing to become really famous and have a number of hits that solidify your legacy long after your popularity begins its natural decline. Step three: have a daughter who decides to be an actress and works with the director of that Marvel movie on an earlier project.. Step four: ask for a role that Marvel movie in the press. Step five: wait for that director to respond to your request on social media. Profit!
And this brings us to chapter two of the “Aerosmith Frontman Steven Tyler Really Wants a Role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” a tale that will live on for generations to come.

James Gunn hasn’t been shy about his love for Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. James Gunn knows exactly what’s going to happen in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. He just hasn’t written it yet. To help promote the December 9 Blu-ray release of Guardians of the Galaxy (which you can read more about here) the director offered some intriguing updates on his next film, Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Gunn said “the story is written and that’s it” in regards to the film, so there is no script just yet. But he did say that he didn’t want to repeat what made the first film such a success, the film would delve deeper into each of the characters (and maybe even include some back story) and he feels liberated because he feels the franchise’s role in Phase Three isn’t dictated by The Avengers. Plus, he teased that the series might not continue in a third film, contrary to previous rumors.
