Paramount Pictures has premiered the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Super Bowl television spot on ComingSoon. I have to admit, the 30-second teaser kicked my ass, maybe because I was expecting so little. I think I’m most impressed by over-the-top action in the car chase sequence. And I’m surprised that the special effects look levels above the fx in Stephen Sommer’s earlier films like Van Helsing and The Mummy Returns. And sure, we all knew the dialogue would be super corny – that was to be expected.

This looks like it could be as much fun as Michael Bay’s Transformers.  But I still need to see more than a slickly cut 30-second tv spot. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about the movie from people who have actually seen more. But for now, Paramount has got my full attention. Head on over to ComingSoon to watch the trailer in High Definition, or watch it embedded in much lower resolution after the jump.

Sneak Peek: GI Joe Super Bowl Teaser

Paramount Pictures premiered a 10 second preview of the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Super Bowl commercial during Friday’s Entertainment Tonight. I know it’s just ten seconds, but it’s an impressive ten seconds. It’s easy to make something that flies by with fast cuts look good, I can’t wait to actually see some of this at normal speed. Check it out after the jump, and please share your thoughts in the comments below.

The first batch of official identification card photos for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra have made their way onto the interwebs. A bunch of previously unseen characters are featured. I have put together the image above which features the four new characters.

From left to right, Saïd Taghmaoui as Joe communications specialist Breaker, the Cobra Viper (a ground soldier, which is essentially the Cobra version of the Stormtrooper), third up is Joseph Gordon-Levitt as The Doctor (aka Cobra Commander), and fourth is Arnold Vosloo who plays Zartan, a master of disguise.

Is it just me or do these photos look horrible? When I first saw them I believed they must be fan creations. Gordon-Levitt can’t really have let them do THAT to him, could he? But it appears the photos are legit. You can check out all the information cards on HISSTANK.

Paramount Pictures has released six new character posters for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on MySpace. And yes, the movie still looks lame, but it seems like they’re trying really hard (may be too hard) to make it look cool. Check out all six posters after the jump.
