One of the many reasons we’re thankful for Thanksgiving is that it cuts the work week short, giving us twice as much weekend time to spend at the movies. And there’s no shortage of titles right now to spend that time on. The only question is where to start.
To help you answer that, we’ve put together a helpful guide that (we hope) covers every base. Hit the jump for our list of 25 movies to watch this Thanksgiving. Read More »

Foxcatcher is getting a lot of attention for its tone, its performances, and Steve Carell’s nose. But that title proved to be irresistable for one editor, and now we can show you something that was probably inevitable. Fantastic Mr. Foxcatcher is exactly what you think it might be: a mash-up of the trailers for Foxcatcher and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. Specifically, it uses the audio from the new film with the images of Anderson’s movie. Some parts work better than others, but the bits that do work are, well, fantastic. Read More »
Here’s a new trailer for Bennett Miller‘s new film Foxcatcher before it hits theaters in November. Previous looks at the film have been brief, and little more than shadowy glimpses at the story of a rich man (Steve Carell) who opens a state of the art facility in a bid to train wrestlers for the US Olympic team. This time we get just a bit more story as we see a young wrestling hopeful (Channing Tatum) ally himself with Carell’s potentially unstable character in order to step out from the shadow of the success of his older brother (Mark Ruffalo). Check out what could be the final Foxcatcher trailer below. Read More »
Here’s another terrific new Foxcatcher teaser. Bennett Miller‘s new film is based on a true story about a wealthy guy (Steve Carell) who builds a facility to train wrestlers in the hope of winning gold at the 1988 Olympics. The wrestler he pinned his hopes upon, played here by Channing Tatum, was the younger brother of a more successful grappler, played by Mark Ruffalo. And it seems like the younger guy had some problems. In fact, it seems like a couple people have problems. We’ll leave it at that.
The marketing push for the movie so far has been all about setting up broken characters and some really heavy atmosphere, and this new Foxcatcher teaser continues in that mode. There’s little hint of where the story goes, but based on the way this teaser is cut, you know it won’t end well. Read More »
In this new Foxcatcher trailer, we see Channing Tatum as a wrestler who is obsessed with the idea of winning Olympic gold. But his talk of taking home the prize could almost be read like a speech from Tatum about putting in the work to win an Oscar. And if the glowing Cannes reviews are any indication, this new movie from Moneyball director Bennett Miller could be just as impressive as the first footage makes it out to be.
This trailer is deeply intense and grimly foreboding as Tatum squirms under the calculating eye of Steve Carell. Mark Ruffalo observes, playing the brother of Channing’s character. Tatum is downright scary here, and Carell looks like he’s playing a guy that could stare down Hannibal Lecter. This adaptation of a true story is more than just a sports drama, but Sony isn’t giving away too much just yet. Check out the trailer below.

It’s far too early to throw around phrases like “best of the year.” But it’s not too early for the phrase “best of Cannes,” and superlative reviews for Foxcatcher suggest that the Bennett Miller drama has already earned that label.
Steve Carell reportedly puts in a career-changing performance as eccentric millionaire John du Pont, who becomes the benefactor to two American wrestlers — brothers Dave (Mark Ruffalo) and Mark Schulz (Channing Tatum). The real-life tragedy that took place between them makes for a sensational story, but Foxcatcher, by all accounts, is more of a slow burn, and all the better for it.
Hit the jump to get the Foxcatcher early buzz, plus a new teaser.

Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher was supposed to be a contender during the last awards season, but then Sony Pictures Classics yanked it off the calendar to give the filmmakers more time. So it’s opening this fall instead, and now the first Foxcatcher clip has arrived to show off the fruits of their labor.
Steve Carell stars as John du Pont, real-life heir to the DuPont chemical fortune, who takes a world-class wrestler named Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) under his wing. Their relationship becomes twisted as du Pont manipulates the younger man and displays increasingly erratic behavior. Mark Ruffalo plays Schultz’s brother Dave, also a wrestler. Watch the Foxcatcher clip after the jump.
