The upcoming midseason premiere of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead gives its characters a change of scenery. Following the previous six episodes from season two, the story now takes place in Mexico. The move from California to Mexico “was the right move for the story, and hopefully, that’ll continue,” writer and producer Dave Erickson told a packed Hall H.
Below, you can watch the Fear the Walking Dead trailer and read what else Erickson and the cast had to say at Comic-Con.

I haven’t been keeping up with AMC‘s Fear the Walking Dead, but I will say this much about the new trailer that just premiered at Comic-Con 2016: it’s genuinely refreshing to see a zombie TV series that’s not set in the backwoods of Georgia. While its parent series has generally hung around a single region for seven seasons, the young spin-off has been steadily journeying down the west coast of the United States, spending a portion of the second season on a boat. When the show returns for the back half of its second season, the action will shift to Mexico as the main cast is scattered to the winds.
And you can get a look at what to expect by watching the trailer below.

On the red carpet for PaleyFest’s panel for Fear the Walking Dead, producers Dave Erickson and Gale Anne Hurd spoke to reporters about the upcoming second season. The prequel to The Walking Dead ended its six-episode first season last fall, with (spoiler alert!) the survivors in Los Angeles finding a boat to take them away from land and the hordes of infected people the rest of us know as walkers.
“Many, many fans of The Walking Dead said that they had the solution to the zombie apocalypse,” Hurd told reporters. “They’d take a boat and go to sea. Well, you know what? They’re going to find out whether that was really the answer or not. I think some of what they’ll see will surprise them.” Read More »
While AMC’s The Walking Dead continues to grab headlines left and right as it casts strong actors as frightening villains and riles fans up with wacky plot twists and big developments, Fear the Walking Dead has just been kind of sitting there. The first season of the spin-off, which turns back to the clock to the earliest days of the zombie apocalypse and takes place on a separate coast entirely, received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. Every joy came coupled with a frustration, which really is the Walking Dead experience in a nutshell.
With Fear the Walking Dead returning next month, AMC has released new key art that seemingly teases the focus of the new season. Yep, it’s time explore the zombie apocalypse from a boat.

The first season may have literally just ended last night, but Fear the Walking Dead season 2 already has a teaser. Well, a teaser of sorts. AMC hasn’t shot a single frame of the Walking Dead spinoff’s sophomore season, but they can gather cast and crew together, place them in front of a camera, and let them speculate about all the horrifying, flesh-tearing mayhem that will occur next year. Non-spoiler alert: things are going to get very, very bad for everyone involved.
To see just how bad, watch the Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 first look after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
We’ve heard over and over that the characters from The Walking Dead won’t cross over with those in spin-off/prequel show Fear the Walking Dead. But there is something happening with the timelines of the two shows, and now we have word of a new intersection between the series.
A special web series will take place during the Fear timeline — that is, in the earliest days of the walker outbreak. But it will be a little more walker-centric, as the series takes place on an airplane as walkers attack passengers. Read More »
AMC premieres the new Walking Dead spinoff show Fear the Walking Dead this weekend. Set at the beginning of the zombie outbreak in Los Angeles, Fear centers on two families, the Clarks and the Manawas. Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) has moved in with Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), and their respective kids don’t get along, so the zombies are seemingly the least of their problems.
The cast and producers of Fear the Walking Dead gave a panel for the Television Critics Association last month. During the panel, show runner Dave Erickson answered common questions about the series. Fear won’t catch up to Rick waking up from his coma for at least two seasons, for example. And no, cast members from the Georgia-set Walking Dead won’t show up in Fear.
After the panel, I got some one on one time with Erickson to find out some of what we will see on Fear the Walking Dead. Read More »
