Even among this summer’s crowded lineup of blockbuster sequels, Fast and Furious 6 manages to stand out as one of the most highly anticipated releases of early summer. The trailers and promos so far have been gloriously high-octane, highlighting the fancy automotive tricks that are the series’ claim to fame.
The newest featurette highlights still more explosive new footage, but also reveals a bit more about the story and characters. Vin Diesel, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez, and more discuss what’s driving the players, and how they bounce off of each other. Watch it after the jump.

Day 2 at CinemaCon began with a presentation from Universal Pictures.
Last year Universal arrived in Las Vegas with many goods — even previewing footage from films in production for only a few days — showcasing their line-up up until December 2013. This year they came to CnemaCon with a more conservative approach, screening footage only from their slate scheduled through this summer.
After the presentation I receorded a video blog with Alex from FirstShowing, giving our brief reactions to footage screened from R.I.P.D., Despicable Me 2 and Fast & Furious 6. Watch the video blog embedded after the jump.

Universal has turned the Fast & Furious franchise into a juggernaut that fans love — I’d wager that I see more anticipation expressed for Fast & Furious 6 on a daily basis than I do for any other summer tentpole slated for release this year. By crafting a series of tightly interconnected stories, the studio (and screenwriter Chris Morgan and director Justin Lin) have pinpointed exactly what audiences want: big action with entertaining actors, and a story throughline to match long-form television.
Seems so simple, but only Marvel is building the same sort of structure, and capturing fans the same way.
Fast & Furious 6 arrives on May 24, and in a note about an early screening of the film Vin Diesel says that the reaction to 6 is good enough that shooting on Fast & Furious 7 is already set for this summer. Read More »

Since Super Bowl weekend, Universal has been opening the doors on the Fast & Furious 6 garage. There’s the long Super Bowl spot and the 3 1/2 minute trailer that went online not long afterward. Now we’ve got a theatrical edit of that trailer, which you can check out below.
Along with that comes some potentially big spoiler info about the end of this movie, and the villain for the seventh film — and there will definitely be a seventh. We’ll keep quiet about that info until after the trailer embed below. And if you care about preserving some secrecy about where the sixth movie ends up, and what’s planned for the follow-up, just check out the trailer and be done. Read More »

Fast Five wound up being one of 2011′s most unexpected pleasures, so hopefully we’re in for a treat when the first footage from Justin Lin‘s Fast and Furious 6 (or whatever it winds up being called) airs during the Super Bowl this weekend.
To prep fans for the unveiling, Universal has finally released an official synopsis explaining just what Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker), Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), and the rest of the gang will be up to in the new film — and how exactly Luke Evans‘ villain and the presumed-dead Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) factor in. Read it after the jump.
