They may be dumb but they’re not stupid. Nearly 20 years after its release, the 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber still remains a fan favorite. Quotes are regularaly thrown around, scenes referenced and a no-brainer sequel has long been discussed. Earlier this year, it seemed like the Farrelly Brothers were getting closer than ever, but then Jim Carrey dropped out of the film. The brothers took to Twitter Tuesday to tell fans the film was still in the works, the script is almost done, and it has a title: Dumb and Dumber To. Read more after the jump. Read More »

The Three Stooges may not have quite been the box office smash that the Farrelly Brothers were hoping for, but the writer / director / producer pair are pressing onward with another new project. Fox has just acquired a holiday comedy spec script by Dan Ewen titled Dear Satan for the siblings. It’s unclear at this point if they’ll direct, but the goofy premise sounds like it could be right up their alley. Read more after the jump.

Before we launch into the Andrew Garfield era of the Spider-Man movie franchise, Sony would really like it it you revisited the Tobey Maguire age one last time with its upcoming Blu-ray reissues of the Sam Raimi films. Also after the jump:

Although that first domestic trailer for Peter and Bobby Farrelly‘s The Three Stooges left me pretty cold, with just a month to go until the film’s release it seemed worth giving the new international trailer a fair shot. Unfortunately, though the new video does more efficient job of laying out the plot, it fares no better at bringing the funny. Your mileage may vary, though, so check out the trailer after the jump.

Fox’s upcoming The Three Stooges, a long-time dream project of comedy directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly, is an object of curiosity for me. The movie has bounced through a couple studios, and once almost rolled with a high-profile cast that included Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benecio del Toro. Things fell apart, and early this year the project landed at Fox. Then it moved quickly, assembling a cast that includes Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe Howard, Sean Hayes as Larry Fine, Will Sasso as Curly Howard, and Jane Lynch, Larry David (playing a nun!), Sofía Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Stephen Collins, and Carly Craig.
We’ve seen a few set photos and little else. Now there is a poster image of sorts, but it shies away from really revealing the new Stooges. (Even the old banner above shows more.) Check it out below. Read More »

There’s been a lot of talk in Atlanta over the past couple weeks about The Three Stooges, which Peter and Bobby Farrelly are crewing up to start shooting in a couple weeks, but which hadn’t yet locked down the third lead. We know that Will Sasso will play Curly, Sean Hayes will play Larry, and a few other smaller parts are cast as well. (Sofia Vergara will be a ‘femme fatale’ in the second of the film’s three short stories.)
Now it appears that Chris Diamantopoulos, who had a recurring part on the last season of 24, will be the ‘discovery’ to play Moe. Read More »

It hadn’t occurred to me that we might get another Dumb and Dumber, but now that the idea’s been floated, I’m finding it has the ring of inevitability about it. At the Sydney press junket for Hall Pass this weekend, Dumb and Dumber co-director Bob Farrelly announced that he and brother/co-director Peter Farrelly were planning a sequel to their 1994 hit. Dumb and Dumber is the movie that initially put the Farrelly Brothers on the map, kicking off a successful career that includes There’s Something About Mary, Shallow Hal and (my personal favorite of their films — yeah, yeah, judge all you want) Stuck on You, among others. Read Bob Farrelly’s quote after the jump.
