2014 is turning out to be a big year for Emma Stone. She’s already had one big hit in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and has projects with Cameron Crowe and Alejandro González Iñárritu opening later this year. In between, she stars in Magic in the Moonlight, the latest from the prolific Woody Allen.
The Jazz Age dramedy stars Stone as a spirit medium who has won over a wealthy family in the South of France. Not everyone is totally convinced of her supernatural talents, though, and a stage magician (Colin Firth) is sent to debunk her. (So he’s a bit inspired by Harry Houdini, then?) Watch the first Magic in the Moonlight trailer after the jump.

The Wachowski Siblings will be among the fans of this latest clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In it, Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) have a Times Square showdown. However, when Electro finally unleashes his powers on Spider-Man, we see Marc Webb‘s version of bullet-time. It’s a slow motion, spinning, digital tracking shot meant to duplicate Spider-Sense. In this case, it also tracks the devastating power of Electro’s electricity. More so than almost any of the previous sizzle reels, trailers or commercials, this one-minute clip should get you excited for the epic potential of the May 2 release. Check out this new Amazing Spider Man 2 clip below. Read More »

We knew Spidey (Andrew Garfield) was going to have his work cut out for him in the next movie, what with not one, not two, but three villains gunning for him. But a new batch of Amazing Spider-Man 2 images suggest that there’s big trouble toward Gwen (Emma Stone) as well.
Elsewhere, the photos offer fresh looks at the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) on his glider, Paul Giamatti in his Rhino suit, and Stan Lee looking dapper on set. Get an eyeful after the jump.

We’ve seen so many trailers, TV spots, clips, and images for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at this point, we’re wondering if there’s even anything left for the theater. But Sony has dug up still more new footage for one last trailer, which they say is the last one until the movie opens in May.
While most of the promos have focused on Jamie Foxx‘s Electro as the main villain, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 final trailer emphasizes the complicated Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan). Sony throws in a nice shot of the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) in action, too. Check it out after the jump.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 might be filled with villains, but the most important one is Electro. It may not feel like that in some of the more recent trailers but the first full Amazing Spider-Man 2 clip makes it pretty clear. Set in the middle of Times Square, this quick, minute long scene features Spider-Man’s (Andrew Garfield) first encounter with a fully-operational Electro, played by Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx. We’ve seen snippets from this scene before, but not the whole thing in sequence. Check it out below. Read More »

Briefly: It will come as a surprise to no one that Sony Pictures Classics has picked up North American distribution rights to Woody Allen‘s new movie Magic in the Moonlight, and along with the announcement we’ve got the first plot details for the film. We’ve known that the cast features Emma Stone and Marcia Gay Harden (seen above) with Colin Firth, Eileen Atkins, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney, Jacki Weaver, Jeremy Shamos and Erica Leerhsen. Now we know what they’ll be doing.
Specifically, the Sony Classics announcement says “Magic in the Moonlight is a romantic comedy about an Englishman brought in to help unmask a possible swindle. Personal and professional complications ensue. The film is set in the south of France in the 1920s against a backdrop of wealthy mansions, the Côte d’Azur, jazz joints and fashionable spots for the wealthy of the Jazz Age.”
There’s no release date for the film at this point, but a Cannes debut doesn’t seem unreasonable to expect.
