We’ll have a full review of the latest episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Matthew McConaughey up later today, but in the meantime, we couldn’t help but share this pre-recorded sketch from last night. A whole slew of guest stars popped on SNL for this sketch that features J.J. Abrams (who actually appears in the beginning) showing off some of the screen tests of other actors who tried to land a part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There are currently three movies in the works about Billie Jean King. The one potential version that appears closer to first reaching theaters is the Fox Searchlight production called Battle of the Sexes, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), which has Danny Boyle (Steve Jobs) attached as a producer. The project was sweetened by Emma Stone playing Billie Jean King until she was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts earlier this year. But now she’s back.

Yorgos Lanthimos is lining up a high-powered cast for The Favourite, as Kate Winslet, Emma Stone, and Olivia Colman have all entered talks to star. That’s not too surprising, considering the success he’s had with Dogtooth and now The Lobster. No, the weird part is how un-weird it sounds. As far as we can tell, The Favourite is a pretty straightforward historical drama.

Fan casting for Paul Feig‘s female Ghostbusters reboot almost always included Emma Stone. Fans wanted her in the film, and Stone has proved time and time again that she has not only dramatic chops, but a spot on comic sensibility, too. Seeing her busting ghosts seemed like a no-brainer. Then, when the four main leads were announced, Stone wasn’t there. It didn’t really matter, because Feig had knocked casting out of the park with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Director Cameron Crowe returns to theaters this weekend with Aloha, starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Rachel McAdams. The film looks like a pretty routine romantic comedy thanks to trailers, but in fact there’s more to it than that. The first eight minutes of the film are now online, and the credits sequence introduces a melange of concepts, from the integration of Hawaii to the United States, to the rise and fall of the US space program.

In typical Woody Allen fashion, the writer/director has been keeping details for his next film Irrational Man under tight wraps. But with the arrival of the first Irrational Man trailer, we finally have some idea of what this movie will be about.
Joaquin Phoenix stars as a philosophy professor who’s suffering from an existential crisis: he can’t write, he can’t breathe, he “couldn’t remember the reason for living,” as he says in the promo.
