Gordon-Levitt will voice Jiro Horikoshi, a talented engineer who spends his life building planes, only to realize he can’t fix everything. Macy, Werner Herzog (!), Mae Whitman, Jennifer Grey, Darren Criss, Elijah Wood and Ronan Farrow.
The English dubbed version will be released February 21. [USA Today]
We’ve long referred to Edge of Tomorrow, originally called All You Need is Kill, as “Starship Troopers plus Groundhog Day,” because Tom Cruise plays a guy thrown into battle against an alien force who is killed moments after he gets to the fight. But he doesn’t stay dead; instead he wakes up on that fateful morning of battle over and over again, and therefore has to fight and die over and over again.
That repeated last day turns out to be the chance for this guy to really become a soldier, as the extra lives mean that he can learn to fight and survive, with a little help from another warrior (Emily Blunt).

We haven’t heard much from Doug Liman‘s Edge of Tomorrow since we got our first glimpse of footage at Comic-Con, but that’s changing in a big way this week. In advance of the sci-fi thriller’s first trailer release on Wednesday, Warner Bros. has launched a nifty viral campaign, and several images to go along with it.
Based on a graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, the film centers Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise), who despite his lack of combat training is thrust into the middle of a war against an alien race. He dies quickly, but gets caught in a time loop that forces him to relive that same battle over and over. Emily Blunt stars as another soldier. See the new pics after the jump.

When most people think of Walt Disney films, they think of two genres: the animated musical and the live-action family film. Beauty and the Beast or 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Snow White or Swiss Family Robinson. What’s slightly more rare of late is a blend of the two, the live-action musical, as we’ve seen in films like Mary Poppins, Newsies, Enchanted or The Muppets. These come out much less frequently.
Next year, however, Disney will be releasing two live-action musicals: Muppets Most Wanted and one that’s likely to be their most elaborate and star-studded live action musical to date, Into The Woods.
Directed by Rob Marshall and based on the Tony Award-winning broadway show with music by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods just began production aimed at a Christmas 2014 release. Below, read the full press release including the list of confirmed cast members, such as Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Christine Baranski and Tracy Ullman. Doug Liman‘s Edge of Tomorrow, once called All You Need is Kill, showed off a new image (above) and a poster before heading to Comic Con, with footage likely to debut Saturday morning at the Warner Bros. panel. But on the show floor some of the costumes from the film are being displayed for attendees right now.
In the film, Tom Cruise plays a soldier killed in battle with aliens, who finds himself reliving his final day of life. (You might remember that this project was described pretty early on as Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers.) That constant reincarnation lets him play out that battle almost like a video game, allowing him to get better and better as s soldier. Some of his gear for the fight eventually includes the power suits seen above and in the Comic Con poster. You can get another look at the suits in pics from the show floor, below. Read More »
Doug Liman‘s upcoming sci-fi action film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt has been given a new title. Originally called All You Need Is Kill, which also is the name of the original graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, the film has now been renamed Edge of Tomorrow. It’s definitely a less confusing, more catchy title for the June 2014 release. The film is about a futuristic world where a soldier is caught in a time travel loophole, consistently dying in battle, but in the process also hardening into a military powerhouse, and probing for the weakness of his enemy.
Below, check out the first poster for the film. Read More »

Rob Marshall has directed one really good musical (Chicago) and one not-so-great one (Nine). Presumably it’s the former that has Hollywood’s biggest stars eagerly lining up for his next one.
Emily Blunt and Christine Baranski have entered negotiations to team with Marshall for Disney’s Into the Woods, joining Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Chris Pine. The fairy tale mash-up is based on a Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim. More details on their roles after the jump.
