The Lego Movie

Even if you’re too old for trick-or-treating, you can count on getting at least one shiny new treat tomorrow. Warner Bros. has announced that they will release the second trailer for Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s The Lego Movie on Thursday, October 31, to follow up that delightful first trailer we got back in June.

And to prepare for that new promo, the marketing team has revealed five brief new teasers based on some of the film’s central characters: good guy Emmet (Chris Pratt), kickass Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), villainous President Business (Will Ferrell), pirate-y Metalbeard (Nick Offerman), and competitive Batman (Will Ferrell). Check ‘em out after the jump.

The Lego Movie

With direction by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and a voice cast that includes Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Ferrell – not to mention the timeless appeal of Legos themselves — The Lego Movie has the potential to become one of the highlights of next year’s lineup. But although the first trailer was released all the way back in June, plot specifics have been kept pretty vague. Until now.

A wealth of new information has just come out about the movie, including details about and new images of all the major characters. Check ‘em out and get all the latest details after the jump.

The LEGO movie poster

This could well be the kids’ film of 2014, even if it is a giant toy commercial. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the guys who made the very entertaining Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and also the 21 Jump Street revamp, have turned Legos into a movie. The Lego Movie, in fact. And since their last two films were funnier and generally better than anyone expected, let’s see if lightning can strike a third time.

There’s a plot here, about a “special” Lego guy who has to save the world, but part of this first teaser is to establish just how many character cameos will be in the film. You thought Wreck-It-Ralph could boast a dense line-up of pop-culture icons? I get the idea this makes it look like  Read More »

The first Hunger Games film was released one year ago this month. Feels longer than that, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because so many other huge blockbusters have been released since then. But The Hunger Games, unlike those other blockbusters, continues with a sequel coming out this year.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released on November 22 and Lionsgate has already started marketing for the film. We saw the Victors Posters and now individual character portraits are being released. To start, we see Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) and Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), all of whom are reprising their roles in the sequel.

UPDATE: We’ve added Cinna, played by Lenny Kravitz.

It’s no great surprise that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are luring in some excellent talent for Lego: The Piece of Resistance, but it’s cheerful news all the same. Chris Pratt and Will Arnett were among the first actors announced over the summer, followed by Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks a couple of months later. Now four more shining stars have just boarded the cast: Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, and Liam Neeson. More after the jump.
