Warcraft tease

We know, we know: these so-called “trailer teases” are just a cheap way for studios to milk all the publicity they can out of a couple minutes of footage. But we also know that there are plenty of Warcraft fans who’ve been dying to see even the tiniest bit of action from Duncan Jones‘ new movie. And who are we to make you wait? Watch the very first footage from Warcraft after the jump.  Read More »

Warcraft Movie Photos

The new set of Warcraft movie photos show off glimpses of three primary characters: Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel), Durotan (Toby Kebbel) and Orgrim Doomhammer (Robert Kazinsky). Check them out below! Read More »

star wars twitter

Twitter can be a wretched hive of scum and villainy that feels engineered to fill you with crummy feelings and ruin your day… but it can also be a miraculous forum on which to witness incredible people engage in incredible conversations about incredible things. Or at least super-nerdy things. Or at least hilarious mean things. Based purely on the strength of a lengthy exchange between filmmakers Rian Johnson and Duncan Jones, Twitter has earned the right to exist for another few weeks or so.

What happens when the director of Star Wars Episode VIII challenges the director of Warcraft to a Twitter duel over the value of their respective film series? You can see for yourself below.

Warcraft

Earlier today we reported the unhappy news that Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 had been “halted indefinitely,” but that’s not the only Legendary project that’s making Universal nervous. The studio reportedly sees Warcraft, due out next summer, as a “problem movie.”

That’s a worrying description, especially since the studio has yet to publicly release any footage for fans to judge for themselves. But director Duncan Jones isn’t bothered, and he makes a pretty good case as to why you shouldn’t be, either. Read his reaction to the Warcraft problem movie comments after the jump. Read More »

Warcraft comic con 2015

Director Duncan Jones has been coming to Comic Con with Warcraft for three years now. With the movie finally set to arrive in theaters just under a year from now, Comic-Con finally got a first look at some official footage from the video game adaptation, and it’s definitely something to talk about.

The footage on display has simultaneously some of the most beautiful visual effects footage I’ve ever seen, along with some of the most niche, heavy-fantasy, somewhat confusing story elements in recent memory. As someone who hasn’t ever dove into the world of Warcraft, I’ll do my best to break down what we saw in Hall H.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:

Warcraft sequels

Duncan Jones is at Comic Con to promote Warcraft, and he’s got a few other things to say while talking about his upcoming third movie. Warcraft is very nearly done, with fewer than a dozen effects shots left to complete. And since the movie doesn’t release until June 2016, that leaves him with a lot of time until he has to hit the promo circuit. He’ll eventually get to work on a Warcraft sequel, and in fact he and Legendary have story ideas for two more movies.

What Jones seems most keen on doing, however, is filling the eleven months between now and the release of Warcraft by making another movie. Specifically, he hopes to finally shoot Mute, the future-set film he wrote several years ago and has called “a dark, dirty thriller.” Read More »

Orgrim Doomhammer Warcraft Movie

It feels like Duncan JonesWarcraft has been in production since before the Horde or Alliance came into existance. The director finished filming about a year ago and ever since, has been very carefully showing hints and teases at big events like Comic-Con and BlizzCon. Most recently, the film’s release date was pushed back from Spring to Summer 2016 (the above logo is wrong), which disappointed fans but mostly meant the studio is confident in the film. Now we have an idea why.

The first official images from Warcraft have now been revealed showing off one of the film’s stars, the orc leader Orgrim Doomhammer. He’s played by Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim, True Blood) but beyond that performance he’s almost entirely the work of Industrial Light and Magic. Check out the Warcraft images below. Read More »
