Now that Deadpool fans have had the privilege of seeing the Merc with a Mouth brought to the big screen properly, they’re eagerly anticipating what director Tim Miller and writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick have in store for the sequel. It’s still early days on the follow-up to the R-rated surprise hit of the year, but thanks to the credits scene at the end of Deadpool, we already know one thing we can expect from Deadpool 2, and that’s the introduction of Cable.
Ever since Cable was confirmed to appear in the sequel, fans have been trying to figure out who the best man for the job would be. One of the more popular suggestions, with support from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, has been Jon Hamm while Avatar star Stephen Lang also threw his own name into the ring. There has always been a big market for direct-to-video sequels. Back in the Ye Olden Tymes, you could walk down the “New Releases” section of your friendly neighborhood video rental establishment and find low-rent sequels to some of your favorite hits from a decade earlier. The connections to the original film usually ended with the title, but there was something oddly fascinating about this kind of junk. These movies existed simply to trick uninformed movie viewers into watching something rushed out on the cheap just because it has a familiar title.
And while we may be living in the age of streaming, it’s nice to see this ugly, low-budget torch picked up by the likes of Kindergarten Cop 2. The first trailer for this 26-years-in-the-making sequel has arrived and it looks just about as bad as you’d expect for a 2016 family comedy starring Dolph Lundren.

Nobody sets out to make a bad movie. But the truth is, it happens all the time. And every time it does, there’s a fun misadventure and cautionary tale lurking somewhere behind the scenes. This is that story for the 1987 live-action He-Man movie Masters of the Universe.

Don’t bother checking your calendar, because it’s not April Fools’ Day. But even knowing that, if someone told me that there was a Kindergarten Cop 2 on the way starring Dolph Lundgren, I simply wouldn’t believe them, because it sounds so ridiculous.
But then again, after a couple seconds and reconsideration, I would probably end up believing them, because it sounds so ridiculous. Plus, there are actually some set photos to back up news that The Expendables franchise, Masters of the Universe and Rocky IV star is currently shooting a sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s comedic action thriller from 1990. I’m just going to assume that you didn’t download the leak of The Expendables 3, and that if you’re waiting to see the film you can hang on for two more weeks. Sylvester Stallone returns as the leader of a paramilitary gang, and this time the crew stares down a one-time comrade turned arms dealer played by Mel Gibson. It’s all action, and the roster of stars old and new is so huge that the returning cast members barely fit in the trailer. Read More »
