Director Adam McKay promised “a murderers’ row of day players” for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, and based on the casting so far it definitely looks like he’s gonna deliver. But the faces we’re really excited to see are those of the core Channel 4 news team, and the new trailer offers a peek at just that.
There’s no new footage to be found here, but there are enough laughs to whet your appetite for comedy. Against a flashy backdrop just like the one from the last trailer, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner), and Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) step up to say hello. And stay classy. And, uh, happy Easter. Check it out after the jump.

With Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate in the lead roles, plus a slew of their famous friends in supporting and cameo parts, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy certainly had no shortage of big comic talents. But in typical sequel fashion, Anchorman: The Legend Continues plans to go even bigger with a veritable “murderer’s row of day players,” according to co-writer/director Adam McKay. Now, he seems to be making good on that promise as Kristen Wiig becomes the cast’s first fresh face.

Along with his brother Shawn, Marlon Wayans left the Scary Movie franchise after the first two movies, but that’s not stopping him from continuing to parody horror tropes. As Scary Movie 5 eagerly rips into Black Swan — only two years after everyone else did — Wayans is taking on the more relevant Paranormal Activity series.
Directed by Michael Tiddes, A Haunted House stars Wayans and Essence Atkins as a couple who move into their dream house but soon find themselves plagued by supernatural ills. The theatrical trailer was nothing short of terrible, but the new red-band version seems to benefit from the added vulgarity. Nick Swardson, Cedric the Entertainer, and David Koechner also star. Watch the NSFW video after the jump.

Twelve years ago, the Wayans Brothers started a new chapter in comedy history with their spoof comedy Scary Movie. Poking fun at the horror films of the day, the film was a massive success. It spawned three sequels (with a fourth on the way) and influenced innumerable, lesser quality ripoffs. Since then, though, the horror genre has changed. Things are much more centered on found-footage concepts. So Marlon Wayans has packed up his family legacy and created A Haunted House, a hard-R rated comedy spoof of Paranormal Activity.
First time filmmaker Michael Tiddes is directing with Wayans producing and co-starring alongside Nick Swardson, Cedric the Entertainner, David Koechner, Essence Atkins and others. It’ll be released on January 11 and you can watch the first trailer after the jump. Be warned though. It looks really terrible. Read More »

Thanks to recent films like Jack and Jill and That’s My Boy!, Adam Sandler has taken prominence as the biggest critical comedic punching bag. So when some people see that he’s voicing Dracula in Hotel Transylvania, I’m sure there will be some automatic dismissals of the film.
But while Hotel Transylvania reunites Sandler and his That’s My Boy! co-star Andy Samberg, the film is also from Genndy Taratkovsky, the animation director behind such fare as Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, and Star Wars: Clone Wars. His sensibilities are often great, and his touch is all over this new trailer. And while Hotel Transylvania is pretty silly, it is also a film expressly for kids. (As opposed to Sandler’s other recent adult-skewing material.) So I’m ready to give it a shot. Read More »

After seemingly years of studio opposition, Anchorman 2 is finally becoming a reality. So said San Diego’s #1 news anchor, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), when he stopped by Conan Wednesday night to play some jazz flute and make the official announcement. Watch the video after the jump. Read More »

Here’s the first teaser footage from Dimension’s Piranha 3DD, the sequel to Alexandre Aja’s revival of the Piranha series. If this teaser is to be believed, Feast director John Gulager hasn’t changed the formula at all, so this sequel has some sort of story (featuring David Hasselhoff) partially pushed to the background as another group of partying bikini-clad beach babes gets chewed up by hungry prehistoric fish.
We see a glimpse of returning actors Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames, the latter of which comes bearing a Robert Rodriguez touch. That, and the whole tone of this teaser, makes Piranha 3DD look like something that might appeal to anyone who enjoyed the low-brow silliness of the last movie. In other words, this is exactly what you expect it to be. Oh, and it is mildly NSFW, as the title suggests. Read More »
