Despite having a March 3, 2017 release date, we’ve heard very little about The Wolverine 2. Director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman will return to tell a new story that centers on everyone’s favorite mutant but that’s pretty much all we know for sure. There have been rumors, of course, but with three X-Universe films coming out before that – X-Men Apocalypse, Deadpool and Gambit – we really don’t know where Wolverine will be once his next solo film is released.

Fox just set a March 3, 2017 release date for the next solo Wolverine film. Now the studio has announced a screenwriter. David James Kelly is scripting the new Wolverine film, which will once again star Hugh Jackman in the title role. Hey, remember Daredevil? Fox released Mark Steven Johnson’s version of the blind vigilante story, starring Ben Affleck, in 2003. That one hit to relatively little fan interest and acclaim, and the character has languished at Fox for almost a decade since. But Fox wants to do more with Daredevil, if only to keep the character in-house. So a reboot has been planned for some time, with David Slade (Hard Candy, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) attached to direct since last year.
Fox is keeping Slade on to tired at this point, and now the studio has hired David James Kelly to rewrite. Read More »
