As Sisters prepares to go head-to-head with Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the box office this weekend, Paramount has dropped the first trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Tina Fey leads the war comedy about a journalist sent to Afghanistan on assignment. Initially out of her element, she adjusts to the wild, adrenaline-fueled atmosphere.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is based on the memoir by former Chicago Tribune reporter Kim Barker, and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love.) Also starring are Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina, and Christopher Abbott also star. Hit the jump to see the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot trailer. Read More »

After a long, respectable career in front of the camera, Jackie Earle Haley takes charge behind the camera for the first time with Criminal Activities. Haley’s directorial debut stars Dan Stevens, Michael Pitt, Christopher Abbott, and Rob Brown as four young men who get in over their heads with a mobster, played by John Travolta. Here’s the first trailer for James White, which marks the feature directorial debut of Josh Mond, who produced Martha Marcy May Marlene and Simon Killer. The film was a source of constant conversation at Sundance this year, where we all sadly missed every screening.
Much of the talk about the film centered on the lead performance from Christopher Abbott (Girls), and the first image we see of him in this trailer is of a guy who has been beaten up, but is still kicking. There’s more than a minor suggestion here that James White gets at least some of his problems under control, but not before we get to see Abbott display an impressive range of energy in the movie. As devotees of Louie and Sherlock are sighing over extralong gaps between seasons, Girls fans are enjoying some schedule shuffling in the opposite direction. Although the first season of Girls debuted in the spring, Season 2’s kicking off a little earlier than expected in January 2013. Which means the marketing push starts now.
HBO’s already offered up a not-terribly-revealing teaser and a handful of stills from the upcoming season. Now they’re ramping up the campaign with the first full trailer, which features a nice mix of fresh and familiar faces. Hannah (Lena Dunham) and her usual gang are all here, along with returning guest stars like Jorma Taccone and Chris O’Dowd and newcomers like Donald Glover, Patrick Wilson, and Rita Wilson. Watch it after the jump.

If you recognize Christopher Abbott, it’s probably from his turn as poor overlooked Charlie on HBO’s Girls. But a lack of appreciation definitely isn’t an issue in his new film, Hello I Must Be Going.
Directed by Todd Louiso (Love Liza, also Dick in High Fidelity), the Sundance romcom centers around thirtysomething Amy (Melanie Lynskey, Heavenly Creatures), who’s recovering from a painful divorce. While at a dinner with her parents, she meets the 19-year-old Jeremy (Abbott), and the two strike up an illicit affair that gives her a fresh new outlook on life. Watch the trailer after the jump.
