International Movie Trailer: Alpha & Omega

Lionsgate has released an international movie trailer for the upcoming 3D computer animated movie Alpha & Omega. Directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck, the family adventure comedy tells the story of two mismatched young wolves are thrown together by circumstance. The voice cast includes Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Christina Ricci, Dennis Hopper, Danny Glover, and Vicki Lewis. The movie looks like a subpar effort even compared to DreamWorks films, and the storyline seems rather generic. Watch the trailer now embedded after the jump. ‘Alpha and Omega’ Movie Trailer

LionsGate isn’t really the studio most people think of for cutting edge 3D CGI animation. In fact, despite having a film or two in release, I don’t ever think of LionsGate with respect to animation, at all. But they’re trying. The latest attempt to capture the hearts and minds of audiences is Alpha and Omega, a story of two wolves trying to rejoin their pack. Check out the trailer after the break. Read More »

Adrien Brody has joined the cast of Midnight in Paris, the upcoming Woody Allen movie with a title that now, sadly, sounds far too much like a sex tape. As is so often the case with Allen, the cast is becoming quite impressive: it already featured Marion Cotillard, Kathy Bates, Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson, Michael Sheen and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

Allen recently said “the film celebrates a young man’s great love for Paris, and simultaneously explores the illusion people have that a life different from their own is better.” Brody’s role is said to be ‘flashy.’ [THR]

After the break, Zoe Saldana kills people, and Christopher Walken gets some Wild Oats. Read More »

After.Life Movie Trailer

After.Life
Anchor Bay has released a movie trailer for Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo‘s upcoming thriller After.Life, which stars Liam Neeson, Christina Ricci and Justin Long. The story follows a young woman “caught between life and death… and a funeral director who appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead, but might just be intent on burying her alive.” Watch the trailer embedded after the jump, and please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

deschanel-des-barres

Though the territory was already covered to some extent in Almost Famous, Zooey Deschanel will star in a half-hour dramedy pilot for HBO based on I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie, the memoir by famous band-aide Pamela Des Barres.

Famous for sleeping her way through a succession of rock and screen stars in the late ’60s and early ’70s, Des Barres chronicles her exploits and the frequent depression that followed when her interludes with famous dudes didn’t turn into anything meaningful. Almost Famous fictionalized the story, and it sounds like this will be based in reality. Which means, if the series is picked up, we could potentially enjoy a parade of ‘stars of the week’ playing famous rockers and actors. Which would be amusing, if nothing else. [DHD]

After the break, Danny Glover fights dragons (finally!) and Christina Ricci joins Robert Pattinson. Read More »

It’s been slow on the casting front since late December, when Hollywood pretty much shut down for the holidays. Now that everyone is back to work things are picking up slowly.

Christina Ricci has joined the cast of Bel Ami, which already stars Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman. Based on Guy de Maupassant‘s short story ‘Bel Ami,’ the film will follow George Duroy (Pattinson), a young journalist who rose from poverty to become one of the most successful men in Paris via the ruthless and calculating bedding of the city’s most glamorous and influential women. Kristin Scott Thomas is also in the cast. Filming starts next month in Paris. [Production Weekly]

After the break, new work for Maggie Grace, Salma Hayek, Kat Dennings and Josh Lucas. Read More »

New York, I Love You Movie Trailer

New York, I Love You

Vivendi Entertainment has released a new movie trailer for the anthology film project New York, I Love You. The movie is the next film from the producers of Paris, je t’aime, and features another anthology of short films, this time focusing on the stories of love in New York’s five boroughs. I LOVE California, but I’ve always wanted to live in Manhattan (maybe someday). Films like this certainly don’t help my obsessions with “Gotham” and short films.

The film includes short films directed by Jian Wen, Mira Nair, Brett Ratner, Allen Hughes, Shekhar Khapur, Natalie Portman, Fatih Akin, Joshua Marston and Randy Balsmyer. The film’s ensemble cast includes: Bradley Cooper, Andy Garcia, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Natalie Portman, Irrfan Khan, Emilie Ohana, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Maggie Q, Ethan Hawke, James Caan, Blake Lively, Drea de Matteo, John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, Burt Young, Chris Cooper, Eli Wallach and Cloris Leachman.
