Sigourney Weaver

Thirty-odd years after Ridley Scott cast Sigourney Weaver in Alien, and two decades after they reunited in 1492: Conquest of Paradise, the pair are re-teaming once again for Exodus. Weaver has boarded the Biblical epic, along with John Turturro, Aaron Paul, and Ben Kingsley.

Briefly: Ridley Scott is prepping Exodus, his film about Moses, at Fox. Christian Bale is set to play Moses, and now Scott is looking to Joel Edgerton to play Ramses (or Ramesses II). The actor is in early talks now for the role. Adam Cooper and Bill Collage scripted the film, and Steven Zaillian did a rewrite. This is one of two high-profile Moses films that have been in development in the past year. The other is Gods and Kings, which Steven Spielberg was set to make for a while. He ultimately dropped out, and the film doesn’t have a director at this point.

Edgerton, as you can see thanks to the pic above, isn’t the first guy that comes to mind for an Egyptian ruler who is contemporary to Moses. Perhaps there’s some unexpected element in the script that makes Edgerton suited for the role in a way that isn’t obvious from afar. He’s a fine actor, no argument, but this choice will kickstart arguments about whitewashed casting.

A more obviously great placement for Edgerton is in Jeff Nichols‘ new film Midnight Special, which will feature him alongside Michael ShannonDeadline announces that Kirsten Dunst has also signed on for the sci-fi tinged chase film. [THR]

Christian Bale Dark Knight Rises

Christian Bale has stated time and time again he doesn’t want to be Batman again unless Christopher Nolan is directing. Well, the Caped Crusader set to return to the big screen in 2015, casting is well under way and the latest rumor states Warner Bros. will reportedly offer Bale 60 million reasons to change his mind.

The Sun Newspaper is reporting the studio, which will release Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel follow-up Batman vs. Superman in 2015, has offered the Oscar-winning actor 40 million pounds to play Batman once again. That works out to about $60 million.  Read More »

American Hustle

As we’ve seen in earlier stills, David O. Russell‘s American Hustle features some very good actors with some very bad haircuts. Now we finally have our first look at all of them in action with the first trailer.

Starring The Fighter‘s Christian Bale and Amy Adams with The Silver Linings Playbook‘s Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, the film follows the Abscam FBI sting of the 1970s, which ensnared everyone from mobsters to politicians. Watch the trailer after the jump.

The shot above is one of the first two official photos from the next film from David O. Russell, American Hustle. Based on the ’70s “Abscam” FBI sting in which the FBI targeted corrupt officials by luring them with a fictional Middle Eastern sheikh who supposedly wanted asylum in the US. The sting was basically an FBI-backed version of the classic “Nigerian prince” email scam where a supposed member of royalty seeks help getting his/her money out of the home country.

The film stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Louis C.K., Jennifer LawrenceAlessandro NivolaElisabeth Rohm, Dawn OlivieriJack Huston, Michael Pena and Robert De Niro.

As pointed out by a couple people on Twitter, Bale is done up to look quite a bit like legendary producer Robert Evans, while Amy Adams in a mode that’s more sultry than usual. In another pic found below, you can see Bradley Cooper looking like a dead ringer for his Hangover director Todd Phillips. out-of-the-furnace-trailer-header

Here’s the trailer for Out of the Furnace, the new film from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper. The film features Christian Bale as a Pennsylvania steelworker whose brother (Casey Affleck) gets in trouble with a backwoods but powerful criminal (Woody Harrelson). The rest of the supporting cast is impressive, with Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, and Sam Shepard playing big roles, all of which are given a few moments here.

This trailer is solid. In fact, just so long as you’re willing to have Pearl Jam’s ‘Release‘ in your head for the rest of the day, I think it’s a pretty terrific trailer, and one that will set the movie up as a must-see for a lot of people who might not have known what to expect before now. Christian Bale Dark Knight Rises

Warner Bros. wouldn’t think about making a Justice League movie without Batman, but just who would don the cape and cowl has remained a mystery. One name we can rule out for certain now, though, is Christian Bale.
