As summer winds down, the blockbuster season is ending, but when fall rolls around, some of your favorite shows will be coming to television, including the runaway hit Empire on Fox. And if you’ve been wondering what to expect from the second season of the show that’s been upgraded to a fall season premiere after debuting mid-season earlier this year, the first trailer has just arrived.
In the trailer, we see Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) in jail after the events of last season brought him there, and now Andre (Trai Byers) and his mother Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) are determined to remove him as CEO of Empire Entertainment. There’s also glimpses of guest stars Chris Rock and Marisa Tomei teased. Watch the Empire season two trailer after the jump! Chris Rock is back in full force right now. His new movie, Top Five, which he wrote, directed, and stars in, opens in a couple weeks. And he also wrote an incredible essay for THR on what it’s like to be black in the Hollywood system. Read that link, then come back here to watch the Top Five red-band trailer. This edit has a lot of cursing and a great scene with Kevin Hart alluded to in the essay, but it doesn’t give away the movie’s funniest scene. (Be thankful for that, as the funniest bit is also one of the more unexpected moments.) Read More »
Chris Rock writes, directs and stars in Top Five, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this past September. There it scored both critical raves and a massive distribution deal, with Paramount buying the film for $12.5m. Now Paramount has dropped the first Top Five trailer, in which we meet Rock’s character, a nearly washed-up comedian and movie star who is trying to figure out the next act of his life. Along the way he spends time with a New York Times reporter (Rosario Dawson) assigned to write a story about him, and things get complicated. Check out the trailer below. Read More »

The summer schedule is chock full of sequels we’re dying, or at least very curious to see. This weekend alone has Fast & Furious 6 going up against Before Midnight, for example. Monsters University and The Wolverine are due out in the following months. And so on.
Today, however, we have a trailer for what may be the least-anticipated follow-up of the season. (Least-anticipated by the hardcore movie crowd, that is.) Grown Ups 2 reunites Adam Sandler, David Spade, Kevin James, and Chris Rock in their hometown for still more hilarious shenanigans. The film also brings some fresh blood into the mix, in the form of Taylor Lautner, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Shaquille O’Neil. Watch the video after the jump.

Grown Ups is one of the movies from the past few years that many people love to hate — even those people who haven’t seen it. (Confession: I have not seen Grown Ups.) Presented below, mostly without comment, is the trailer for Grown Ups 2, in which Adam Sandler and Salma Hayek move out of LA and back to their home town. Soon they’re joined by much of the rest of the cast from the first film, and if this trailer is any indication, the hijinks that ensue are wacky.
And keep an eye out for Taylor Lautner, doing comedy on purpose. Read More »

There’s no better place than the Oscars to see all your favorite movie stars assembled in one place, but the trailer for Jimmy Kimmel‘s Movie: The Movie V2 might be a close second.
In his post-Oscars show last year, Kimmel debuted an epic, star-studded 9-minute trailer poking fun at every obnoxious movie trope under the sun. This year, he’s back with an even more epic, even more star-studded trailer for Movie: The Movie V2. Because as Kimmel quips, “When you have a big success in Hollywood, there’s only one reasonable thing you can do, and that is cheapen it with a sequel.”
Watch Movie: The Movie V2 after the jump, followed by Kimmel’s other big movie parody, Life of Psy. Yup, that’s exactly what it sounds like.

Even before a pullquote hits comparing Julie Delpy‘s film 2 Days in New York to vintage Woody Allen, this new trailer for the film will have led you to the inescapable conclusion that Delpy is really working to channel Allen’s old tendencies. This one follows Delpy’s previous film 2 Days in Paris, which did have it’s own Allen-esque feel as it also inverted some of the spirit of Delpy’s films with Richard Linklater (Before Sunset and Before Sunrise.) But the New York setting for this one pushes that Allen tone forward even more. And with Chris Rock playing a version of what would have been the Woody role in years past, that’s actually something kinda fun.
The film peers into the relationship between characters played by Rock and Delpy, and what happens when her weirdo French family comes to visit them in NYC. There doesn’t seem to be anything surprising or particularly provocative about the shenanigans that ensue, but the film does look like a genial good time. Read More »

While the Madagascar franchise has never drawn Pixar levels of respect (what does, really?), for kid-oriented entertainment you could do a lot worse that these films. The series has generally been cute, mildly amusing, and totally inoffensive — which may not sound like glowing praise, but that’s a lot more than I can say for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked — and the newest entry, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted seems to be along the same lines.
Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, and Jada Pinkett Smith are on board once again as a quartet of Central Park Zoo animals just trying to get back to New York. Unfortunately, they wind up in Europe instead, where they’re chased by a ruthless animal control squad led by Capitaine Chantel DuBois (Frances McDormand). In an effort to escape their clutches, they take up with a circus traveling across the continent, meeting new friends like Vitaly the tiger (Bryan Cranston), Gia the jaguar (Jessica Chastain), and Stefano the sea lion (Martin Short) along the way. Watch the first full trailer after the jump.
