The red-band trailer for Peter Farrelly‘s Movie 43 leaned hard on the shock factor of seeing big Hollywood stars revel in foul language and filthy jokes, but the poor green-band trailer is stuck trying to sell the exact same product by only hinting at what the NSFW version could actually show. Is Anna Faris asking Chris Pratt to take a dump on her still comedy gold when the word “poop” has to be substituted with a fart noise? Is Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts bullying their own kid still shocking when they have to keep their behavior G-rated?
Eh, truthfully, I think the answer is that none of this looked all that outrageous to begin with. But at least it’s not any less funny than it was before. MGM and Screen Gems just debuted footage from Kimberly Peirce‘s new film version of Stephen King‘s debut novel Carrie at the New York Comic Con over this past weekend, but isn’t wasting any time getting something online. While fans often have to wait months (or more) before seeing trailers that play at the San Diego Comic Con, a teaser trailer for Carrie is now online.
The trailer cuts right to the chase, too, with a slow flight in to the burning hell unleashed by Carrie White (Chloe Grace Moretz) after her first high school prom experience goes, er, badly.

Just because we’ve already seen and loved the original Carrie, Robocop, and Evil Dead doesn’t mean we can’t be curious about the remakes. Today we have teaser posters and footage descriptions for Fede Alvarez‘s Evil Dead and Kimberly Peirce‘s Carrie, thanks to the Sony panel at New York Comic-Con, and a peek at Alex Murphy’s new ride from Jose Padilha‘s Robocop. Whereas the first movie concentrated on a small group of costumed vigilantes, Kick-Ass 2 widens the scope to bring in new allies for both the heroes and the villains. The latest additions to the good guy side are Morris Chestnut (Boyz n the Hood), who’ll be helping out Chloë Moretz‘s Hit-Girl, and Robert Emms (War Horse), who’ll join forces with Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson).
As for when we’ll actually get to see Chestnut, Emms, and everyone else engaged in battle, Universal’s just set a summer 2012 release. That puts the sequel just over two years after the original, which isn’t a bad pace considering Kick-Ass 2 looked unlikely to happen at all until a few months ago. More details after the jump.

Given that Brian De Palma’s 1976 Carrie is revered as a classic of horror cinema, it’s tough to avoid thinking of Kimberly Peirce‘s new version of Carrie as a remake. But strictly speaking, it’s not a rehash of De Palma’s version but rather a fresh interpretation of Stephen King‘s original 1974 novel. And Peirce and screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa seem to be working hard to make the story their own.
The new Carrie will be set in the modern day rather than in the ’70s, and star Chloë Moretz has previously described it as “a more Black Swan version” of the story. So how will that translate onscreen, exactly? Check out the first pic of Moretz in costume and the new official synopsis after the jump.

With a few exceptions, the idea of remaking a classic horror film has proven to be one that faces many pitfalls. And when the original in question is Brian De Palma’s version of the Stephen King story Carrie, a film crafted with impressive style and quite a lot of moxie, there might be more pitfalls than usual. De Palma’s favored split-screen technique has been put to work telling many stories over the years, but the use of the device in Carrie is particularly good. The film is one of the director’s best, and one of the best adaptations of King’s work. It’s a tough act to follow.
But Boys Don’t Cry director Kimberly Peirce is an interesting choice to tackle a new version of Carrie, and she’s got a good start with the cast, as Chloe Moretz is the titular young girl whose telekenetic powers and emerging puberty put her at odds with her fundamentalist mom, played by Julianne Moore.

With Carrie‘s June 1 start date just around the corner, director Kimberly Peirce is adding the final touches to her cast. Leads Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore have been locked in since this spring, but it’s only in the past couple of weeks that the production has been staffing up on supporting players.
Chronicle star Alex Russell and theater actor Ansel Elgort signed on earlier this month, and now we’re hearing that Judy Greer, Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth), and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) are circling three key supporting roles. More details after the jump.
Update: Sources say this casting info isn’t yet set, so we’ll report further as official word is released.
