As Cannes rolls along there are a lot of new images and trailers for great, or at least interesting films. And then there’s this one. Zookeeper is the movie in which Kevin James thinks about quitting the job he loves (he’s a zookeeper, duh) so that Leslie Bibb will like him. But his animal charges can talk, as it turns out, and they teach him all about how to woo women. He probably ends up with Rosario Dawson, who has been working alongside him all this time. And in return, he takes a gorilla to TGI Fridays. This is all in the trailer, which is after the break. Read More »

Earlier this week we heard a great audio recording of Peter and Bobby Farrelly talking Badass Digest through a comic sequence in their planned big screen version of The Three Stooges. The action involved a nun, and now there is a possible actress for the role: the Farrellys want Cher. In addition, they say (still) that Benicio del Toro, who was once cast as Moe, isn’t out of the running just yet. Read More »

Teaser Trailer & Poster: ‘Zookeeper’

In the midst of giant effing robots, magical wizards, superheros, pirates and more, Kevin James is returning to a theater near you during the summer of 2011. His latest film, Zookeeper, directed by Frank Coraci and co-starring Rosario Dawson and Leslie Bibb, is scheduled for release July 8. The teaser trailer was just released and it looks like a blend of James’ last improbable smash hit, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, with Night at the Museum and Madagascar. James plays a zookeeper who wins the girl of his dreams with the help of the animals. How exactly do the animals help? They talk of course! Featuring the voices of Cher, Nick Nolte, Adam Sandler, and Sylvester Stallone, check out the trailer, poster and plot synopsis after the jump. Read More »

Burlesque Movie Trailer #2

Screen Gems has released a second movie trailer for Steven Antin‘s contemporary musical Burlesque (if you missed the first movie trailer, you can watch that at the link). I’m not a big fan of musicals, and when I have liked a film musical, it has usually been of the more cinematic variety. Burlesque is obviously a musical of the stage show-variety. I was also once interested in this project because it was announced that screenwriter Diablo Cody was doing a draft of the script, but I don’t see her name listed in the early credits, and the film doesn’t look to have any of her signature touches. Basically, this is a long way of saying, this just isn’t my thing.

But I’m sure some of you are interested. Watch the second trailer now embedded after the jump thanks to Vlicious (found via FirstShowing).

Eight New Photos: Burlesque

Screen Gems has released the first high resolution production photo of Christina Aguilera in her live-action big screen film debut Burlesque. USA Today is calling the photo a “first look” but there have been other low res photos and set videos online in the past. Check out eight photos from the movie after the jump. I’m sure a movie trailer won’t be far behind.

Entertainment Tonight ran a behind the scenes feature on Christina Aguilera‘s live-action big screen film debut Burlesque. Steven Antin‘s contemporary musical tells the story of Ali, “an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice” played by Aguilera, who “tries to escape a hollow past by performing in a neo-burlesque club in Los Angeles.” The film hopes to be Moulin Rouge meets Cabaret, with established songs that will be updated and worked into dance numbers.   Cher makes her big screen return as Tess, the proprietor of the club, alongside Stanley Tucci. The film also stars a red-haired Julianne Hough, and a brunette Kristen Bell.

Antin wrote the script, which was later revised by Erin Brockovich scribe Susannah Grant. No mention is made of Diablo Cody‘s screenplay involvement in the Variety story, which makes me wonder if any of her contributions have made it to the final draft. Antin has described neo-burlesque as “a contemporary take on the traditional burlesque that derived from vaudeville, with singing, dancing, comedy and more tease than striptease.” Antin’s sister Robin created the burlesque troupe The Pussycat Dolls in 1995. Watch some early footage and behind the scenes interviews from ET, after the jump.
