In just over a month, J.J. Abrams‘ second Star Trek film, Star Trek Into Darkness, opens its regular run. (The film will actually premiere in April, with galas set for different countries beginning with an Australian event on April 23.)
As we hit the last stretch until the film opens up to a general audience, we’ve got a new international poster promising the end of the Earth, along with high-res versions of photos that have appeared in magazines and online over the past week. The pics show much of the cast — which includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller — while the poster continues the image of Cumberbatch’s villain as a dominating force. Though the couple were “sworn to secrecy” about the details of the picture, they reported that they enjoyed it “immensely” and were touched by Abrams’ gesture. Read more after the jump, and then check out some new high-res stills from the film.

After a dozen-year stretch in Uncanny Valley, Robert Zemeckis has returned to the world of live-action with the substance abuse drama Flight. It’s not the smoothest ride. The film’s alcoholism plotline veers toward the generic, the symbolism is often so blunt as to be laughable, and the supporting players are mostly one-note.

Zemeckis and screenwriter John Gatins (Real Steel) have an iron grip on who Captain William “Whip” Whitaker is and what makes him tick, and Denzel Washington‘s grounded performance maintains the audience’s sympathy without sugarcoating Whip’s nasty side.
