bloodline season 3 review

The Rayburn family is a complicated bunch. John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) once believed they were good people who just did a bad thing, but in season three, the waters get even murkier. In the emotional, sometimes frustrating third and final season, the family takes some long, contemplative looks in the mirror.

Below, check out our spoiler-filled Bloodline season three review.

Bloodline season 3 trailer

It’s probably for the best Bloodline is coming to a close with its third season. After the events of season one and two, how much more trouble can the Rayburn family believably cause? Based on the trailer for season 3, plenty more, but after a certain point, it might be tough to buy this family continuing to create problems in paradise.

They’re now at their lowest at the start of the third and final season. They’re arguably no longer good people who did a bad thing. Now, they look like the villains in their story. Below, watch the Bloodline season 3 trailer.

Bloodline season 3 first look

Netflix has announced that Bloodline will return for its third and final season on May 26. The last time we saw the Rayburn family, they hit an all-time low. Season two ended with John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) running away – something we never would’ve expected from the once well-respected cop and family man. John has crawled his way out of some deep holes in the past, but maybe John and the Rayburn family will finally implode in season 3.

‘Bloodline’ Will End After Season Three

bloodline cancelled

This news is unfortunate. Back in July, Netflix ordered a third season of Bloodline, but that third season will also be the last we see of the deeply troubled Rayburn family. The streaming service has decided to end the series, despite creators and executive producers Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler, and Daniel Zelman‘s hope to make five or six seasons of the drama.

Below, learn more about the Bloodline cancellation.

Bloodline

Bloodline is a Netflix show best consumed not all at once. The drama isn’t the kind of series you want to binge watch, partly because it’s so damn bleak at times. The recently released second season of the acclaimed series pushes the characters to new extremes. Throughout most of the season, Kyle Chandler looks utterly broken, making him and the show genuinely hard to watch at times, in a good way. Things somehow got worse for the Rayburn family, and it’s safe to assume things are about to get a whole lot worse with the just-announced season three.

Netflix doesn’t release its viewership numbers. In fact, even people that work on the streaming service’s shows, like Kevin Spacey, don’t know exactly how many people have watched their work. Since Netflix doesn’t sell advertisements, they don’t feel obligated to release those figures. If they’re happy with the numbers — as they were with their most-watched movie ever, The Ridiculous Six — they don’t feel the need to boast about them. If they’re not pleased with viewership, then very few people outside of Netflix will ever know about it. Unless a show gets the ax, of course.

The streaming service hasn’t come out and said how many viewers their original content attracts, but the company has released the Netflix Binge Scale, revealing which shows are the most devoured (Sense8Grace & Frankie) or savored (DaredevilNarcos) by their customers.

How much worse can things get for the Rayburn family? Based on the footage for the next season of Bloodline, apparently much, much worse, which is saying a lot, considering what these characters experienced in season 1. What the Rayburn family did last year isn’t going to go away quietly. In season 2, they’re going to have to face the decisions they’ve made.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:

Netflix ratings

One of the great mysteries of Netflix is how many people are watching. We know there are over 40 million domestic subscribers, but what those people are actually watching, and when, is something only the company itself knows. Netflix does not share ratings data. As streaming becomes more and more prominent, however, ratings are something many people are curious about. Now one company is offering up data on how many people are watching stuff on Netflix… with a major caveat.

A San Diego-based company called Luth Research has put together a large sample of test subjects (about 2,500) that allows them to gauge what and when people are watching on Netflix. Their research, however, only accounts for people who are watching directly on Netflix, meaning on your computer, phone or tablet. Anyone watching through another service – a gaming system, an internet-enabled TV, a Roku – is not counted.

So what were the results? Below, find out the rough first Netflix ratings for Daredevil, House of Cards, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bloodline and more. Read More »
