In Lost, producer J.J. Abrams helped create a story set outside many modern technological bounds by enabling a tale stranding characters on a remote island. His new show, Revolution, goes a lot father, by positing a world in which all technology and electrical power dies. Anything that uses power simply dies one night, plunging the world into a state that is part dark age, part wild west.
Jon Favreau directed the pilot with Abrams producing and Eric Kripke (Supernatural) writing. We’ve now got a few views of the show, through an extended trailer, and a handful of clip from the show. It certainly isn’t short on scale, as you’ll see below. Read More »
Let’s take a rare dip into the Twilight pool. The first half of the two-part series climax, Breaking Dawn, is set to be released on November 18, and Summit is starting the promo machine. A set of new photos has been released for the film, along with a big cover story in Entertainment Weekly that doesn’t tell us too much, but promises some punch to the weird, bloody end of the story. Catherine Hardwicke may not have really been given the chance to play with werewolves in the Twilight series, but she’s done the next best thing: she’s directed Red Riding Hood, in which Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman are inhabitants of a medieval village that is beset by a werewolf.
Sadly, if predictably, the film looks to be going for tone and content that is very similar to Twilight. The first trailer just hit, and you can see it after the break. Read More »
Did someone declare today Drive Angry 3D day and we didn’t get the memo? I only ask because not only has the brand new theatrical trailer just come online, but the poster as well. From My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier (no relation) and starring Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner, David Morse, Billy Burke and Tom Atkins, Drive Angry 3D is about a man who breaks out of hell to get violent, R-rated revenge on the cult who killed his daughter and stole her baby. Footage from the film premiered at Comic Con and was one of the biggest hits of the convention. It’s scheduled for release February 11, 2011. Click below for the full poster and trailer. Read More »
Just the other day we showed you a few concept art images from Patrick Lussier‘s Drive Angry 3D, which stars Nicolas Cage as a father brought back from Hell to avenge crimes against his daughter and granddaughter. Now there’s the first photo of Cage, looking even more insane than usual. There’s also an image of Amber Heard, who lounges in a muscle car thinking that if people had ever had the chance to see her in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, she’d have been cast over Megan Fox in Transformers. I know you’ve all been on pins and needles waiting for this news, so rest easy: Summit has confirmed via press release that its adaptation of Breaking Dawn, the final Twilight novel, will be broken into two films so as to maximize profit from the soon to be completed series. Contract negotiations were the reason that it has taken so long between rumor and announcement. Bill Condon directs both films, which could lend them an air of respectability. Just an air, mind you.
All I want to know now is: which of the two films will have the craziest vampire super baby scenes?
The full press release is after the break. Read More »
The full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse debuted on today Oprah, and if her stamp of approval isn’t enough to get you excited about the third film in the Twilight series, I don’t know what is.
OK, enough sarcasm, but I will say this: perhaps the trailer has deliberately gone extra heavy on a promise of action, but this looks like the Twilight movie with the most running so far. Is that worth anything? Check it out after the break and find out. Read More »
