The Clash of the Titans sequel, which has been referred to as Wrath of the Titans but a press release today calls Clash of the Titans 2, started shooting this week under the direction of Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles). Sam Worthington returns to star as Perseus, but it looks like Gemma Arterton‘s commitment to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters means she definitely won’t be in the film, as her name is MIA from the release. We’ve now got a pretty full cast line-up, and a full plot for the film, after the break. Read More »

We’re pretty excited for Rango, the new Gore Verbinski-directed animated feature starring Johnny Depp as a charismatic chameleon. And we’re not the only ones. Paramount’s clearly pushing this film hard, even buying it a commercial during the Super Bowl. Now that’s commitment.
A couple of months ago, we showed you a making-of featurette for Rango titled “Behind the Scenes: Natural Acting Experience,” which demonstrated Verbinski’s new technique for creating CGI characters. As Peter put it, “Imagine something like how they filmed Avatar, but without all the motion capture suits, balls, and green screen.” A new B-roll shows more footage of the cast and crew in action. It’s all quite fun and charming. Check it out after the jump. Read More »

Peter Jackson has, at long last, made an official announcement about who will appear in The Hobbit. He has confirmed Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, taking over the role originated by Ian Holm in The Lord of the Rings. A great many other names were released as well, almost all of whom make up the large company of Dwarves that hires Bilbo to be their ‘burgler’ before setting out to kill the dragon Smaug and recover the dwarven treasure the dragon uses as a bed. All the names are after the break. Read More »

Wild Target is Jonathan Lynn‘s remake of a 1993 French hitman comedy called Cible émouvante. Yep, another assassin movie. But this one is meant to be funny, and it certainly has a strong cast: Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Martin Freeman, Rupert Everett, Eileen Atkins and more.
It’s been a while since Lynn really made a picture that hit (My Cousin Vinny was almost 20 years ago!) but with that cast, maybe he’ll have something here. Watch the trailer after the break. Read More »
