You can’t put lipstick on a pig, as they say, so there’s no way to dress this up: rather than updating the poster article from earlier today to include this teaser one-sheet for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, I’m giving the image its own space. No characters are revealed in this poster — it’s just a pretty ol’ sunset with a logo overlaid. No vampire baby births or werewolf love scenes, sorry. There’s not even really anything to make fun of. We at /Film are well aware of how much you guys love Twilight news, so we try our best to keep you updated on the latest in the phenomenally popular sparkling-vampire series. To that end, we have a batch of new The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 images that have just been released via press release, just days after we posted the last set of stills. You’re welcome.
The new photos include images of Michael Sheen and Jamie Campbell Bower (a.k.a. Gellert Grindelwald from the Harry Potter series) as vampire coven leaders Aro and Caius, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) looking tough on a motorcycle, and Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) playing chess in what appears to be a Pottery Barn catalog. Mull ‘em over after the jump.

Let’s take a rare dip into the Twilight pool. The first half of the two-part series climax, Breaking Dawn, is set to be released on November 18, and Summit is starting the promo machine. A set of new photos has been released for the film, along with a big cover story in Entertainment Weekly that doesn’t tell us too much, but promises some punch to the weird, bloody end of the story. Edward Cullen and Bella Swan nudity! Though some blurry scans of this week’s Entertainment Weekly had been floating around other movie sites, Summit Entertainment has now provided the high resolution, first look image at Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) naked, in bed, from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, scheduled for release November 18.
Check it out after the jump. Read More »
Maggie Grace, of Lost and Taken, is the latest addition to the ever-expanding cast of Breaking Dawn, aka the final two films in the Twilight series.
Grace will play Irina, “a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other “vegetarian” vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events.” (‘Vegetarian’ vampires being ones that don’t feed on human blood as a matter of course.)
Both halves of Breaking Dawn are being directed by Bill Condon, who is shooting the two films in old-fashioned 2D, despite a great deal of supposition that the films would jump to 3D for these final chapters. Post-conversion could still be an option, however. [Deadline]
Briefly: Contain your excitement! Or, if you’re eagerly awaiting the end of the Twilight films, don’t. Rejoice that the end is near. Summit has set a release date for the final film in the series. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will open in theaters on November 16, 2012. (So the end isn’t too near — that’s 837 days away.)
In related news, Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies is reportedly being cast in the final films. According to E! News, he’s the top choice to play Garrett, “a tall, nomadic vampire with sandy hair that he keeps tied back with a leather thong.” Even better, E!’s insider says that director Bill Condon is “hoping to take [the final films] in a more artsy direction.” I’ll believe that when I see it.
I know you’ve all been on pins and needles waiting for this news, so rest easy: Summit has confirmed via press release that its adaptation of Breaking Dawn, the final Twilight novel, will be broken into two films so as to maximize profit from the soon to be completed series. Contract negotiations were the reason that it has taken so long between rumor and announcement. Bill Condon directs both films, which could lend them an air of respectability. Just an air, mind you.
All I want to know now is: which of the two films will have the craziest vampire super baby scenes?

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Paul Rudd will star in My Idiot Brother, an indie comedy that will have the actor as “an idealist, dealing with his overbearing mother, who crashes into the homes of his three ambitious sisters and, in succession, brings truth, happiness and a sunny disposition into their lives while also wreaking havoc.” Is it any wonder that producers of Little Miss Sunshine are behind this one?
Jesse Peretz directs from a script by Evgenia Peretz (his sister) and David Schisgall. The sisters aren’t yet cast, but we should hear those names soon, as the film shoots next month. [THR]
After the break, new cast for Tilda, Deathgames, and a ‘Fight Club meets werewolves’ movie. Read More »
