Julian Assange is Australian, and his former right-hand man Daniel Domscheit-Berg is German, but it seems both will be portrayed by UK citizens in the movies. Bill Condon‘s developing WikiLeaks movie cast white-hot Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch as WikiLeaks founder Assange last month, and now James McAvoy looks likely to take the role of disillusioned WikiLeaks spokesperson Domscheit-Berg.
The film is based on two books, Domscheit-Berg’s tell-all Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website and journalists David Leigh and Luke Harding‘s WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy. More after the jump.

Two of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood might team up to tell a still-unfolding story filled with secrets, leaks and infamy. DreamWorks has been developing a biopic of Julian Assange, the controversial face behind WikiLeaks, with Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) likely to direct. Over the summer rumors circulated that Jeremy Renner was in talks for the lead but Deadline now reports Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek Into Darkness) could possibly play Assange with Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, RoboCop) as his right hand man, Daniel Domscheit-Berg. The script, based on two books on Assange, was written by Josh Singer.

As of last year, there were some half-dozen Julian Assange / WikiLeaks movies brewing, but probably because the real-life drama is still unfolding, progress has been rather slow-moving on most of them. At least one studio’s not planning on waiting around forever, though. A new report indicates that Jeremy Renner is currently circling the lead role in DreamWorks’ version of the Assange story, while Bill Condon is said to be eyeing the director’s chair. Even though it only runs about 75 seconds long, the theatrical trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 packs in more intriguing images than the first four movies combined. Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) are finally married and now that they’ve also had a child, the lovers who could never be will become the parents who’ll fight for anything to save their child. And if that means recruiting an army of vampires and werewolves to fight the Volturi? Well, then that’s what they’ll do.
Directed by Bill Condon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the final film of the Twilight saga and opens November 16. Check out the trailer below. Read More »

Now that Bella and Edward have spent three whole films falling desperately in love, they’re finally taking things to the next level. In the brand-new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, everyone’s favorite sparklevamp and his beloved invite their loved ones to watch them make it official.
In real life, when my roommate and I get invitations to our human friends’ weddings, we post them on our fridge and then forget about them until all the cheap registry gifts are already taken. Apparently, getting invited to a vampire wedding is far more exciting and involves way more ripping off of shirts in the rain. Watch the trailer after the jump.

You can’t put lipstick on a pig, as they say, so there’s no way to dress this up: rather than updating the poster article from earlier today to include this teaser one-sheet for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, I’m giving the image its own space. No characters are revealed in this poster — it’s just a pretty ol’ sunset with a logo overlaid. No vampire baby births or werewolf love scenes, sorry. There’s not even really anything to make fun of.
