You’ve probably noticed by now that Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall is building some seriously amazing buzz, with ecstatic praise heaped on everything from the cinematography and action choreography to the acting and storytelling. On the plus side, that makes the film’s impending release that much more exciting. On the not-so-plus side, all that hype just makes November 9 (or October 26 for you lucky Brits) seem that much farther away.
For those hankering for an early Bond fix, we have some fun bits of B-roll to share with you today after the jump. The videos show stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, and Bérénice Marlohe shooting various key scenes, from quiet conversations to splashy action setpieces. James Bond’s ability to fill out a tux is the stuff of legend, as is the beauty of his many female associates. All of which should make it very easy indeed for the Skyfall marketing team at Sony to put out one sharp-looking ad campaign. A new banner and series of posters feature stars Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, and Javier Bardem, all dressed up and doing their best Blue Steels in front of a stark black and white 007 logo.
Meanwhile, the vibe behind the scenes looks a little more relaxed. Photographer Greg Williams got on set to capture images of the Skyfall team at work and play, and has assembled the pictures into a gorgeous coffee table book called Bond on Set. Check out the new posters and preview Williams’ book after the jump.

It’s not like we were ever looking forward to Adam Sandler‘s Grown-Ups 2 to begin with, but now I’m wondering if Happy Madison is actively trying to annoy a certain segment of the population. Specifically, the portion of the filmgoing audience that despises both Grown-Ups and The Twilight Saga, which I’m guessing is the vast majority of our readership.
Taylor Lautner is now in talks for a “fun” part in the comedy sequel, joining returning actors Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, and Salma Hayek as well as Project X star Oliver Cooper. The exact nature of Lautner’s character has not been revealed, but THR reports that he’ll be going “toe-to-toe” with Sandler’s character.
Like his Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, Lautner’s struggled somewhat to build a career outside of the supernatural romance franchise. His big action thriller Abduction was a commercial disappointment, though it did better overseas, and while his name has popped up in association with a variety of different projects over the years, none of them have really panned out at this point. Still, Latuner seems to be trying to mix things up a bit. His involvement in Gus Van Sant’s next indie could be a nice step forward, but Grown-Ups 2 seems like two big steps back.
After the jump, 007 gets another new lady and we meet the folks who’ll try to beat down John and Jack McClane.

James Bond has it so tough. Not only is he bad ass, rich and handsome, he always has multiple gorgeous women at his side. Sure, a lot of the time those women try to kill him, but that’s the price you pay for being a secret agent.
In Sam Mendes‘ upcoming Bond film, Skyfall, Daniel Craig‘s James Bond will again have two lovely ladies to interact with. There’s Bérénice Marlohe as a woman named Sévérine and Naomie Harris as a field agent named Eve. What’s the deal with these two women? You can find out in two new video blogs. Read More »

After months — years, really — of rumors about the next James Bond film, it’s nice to finally have some actual facts to sink our teeth into. As shooting on the film began today, director Sam Mendes, his producers, and several of his stars held a press conference giving away some tidibts about the film we’ve been referring to as Bond 23. Among the things we’ve learned: the actual title of the film, which characters some of the actors will be playing, and a basic concept of the plot. More details after the jump.

We’re still in the grey zone with respect to real news about the next James Bond film. Rumored to be called Skyfall, we’re still just calling it Bond 23 for now. There will be a press conference early next month to announce the beginning of production, at which point we’ll likely get a batch of official info.
But for now, we’ll take a statement from Javier Bardem confirming that he’s playing the bad guy in the movie. (Or one of the bad guys, at least.) Along with that confirmation, there are confirmations that French actress Berenice Marlohe will be in the film, as will Ben Whishaw (who is shooting the Tykwer/Wahcowski Cloud Atlas right now) and Harry Potter‘s Helen McCrory.
Get Bardem’s statement and another rumor about Bond 23 after the break. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
As a start date looms for the 23rd James Bond film, currently referred to simply as Bond 23, we’re starting to learn bits and pieces about the picture. The latest intel involves the film’s opening sequence, which will see the franchise returning to Istanbul. (The location was used in From Russia With Love and The World is Not Enough.)
And while that report says that a Turkish actress is being sought to play “a villain’s girlfriend,” there is a more credible report that one of the film’s major female roles may go to French actress Bérénice Marlohe. Read More »
