Next week brings the release of Disney’s high seas rescue drama The Finest Hours, and the film is getting a release in IMAX 3D for the most immersive experience possible. The only way it could be more immersive is if the people working at the theater kept dumping buckets of water on you. That way you can be just as wet as Chris Pine and Casey Affleck will be in this movie about what is being called the most daring Coast Guard rescue mission ever. If you need anymore convincing to see the movie, check out a four-minute IMAX trailer for the movie after the jump. Read More »

At a time when our big-screen heroes typically come packaged with extraordinary abilities or cutting-edge gadgets or mystical prophecies, Craig Gillespie‘s The Finest Hours looks like a throwback. It’s a no-frills tale of heroism, made all the more remarkable by the fact that these incredible events actually too place. In 1952, a brutal nor’easter savaged New England, smashing apart an oil tanker called the SS Pendleton and leaving over 30 sailors stranded at sea. Back on the Massachusetts shore, the Coast Guard got word of the disaster, and a small team of men bravely risked their own lives to help. The incident is still considered one of the greatest rescues in Coast Guard history.
In November 2014, I had the opportunity to visit the set of The Finest Hours along with a few other journalists. We spoke with a few of the talents involved, including director Gillespie, stars Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Kyle Gallner, and John Magaro, and producers Jim Whitaker and Dorothy Aufiero. After the jump, find out what we learned on the set of The Finest Hours. Read More »

Ben Foster made an interesting revelation while promoting The Program. Would you see a western-tinged heist movie starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges? What if it was written by the guy who scripted Sicario, Taylor Sheridan, and directed by David Mackenzie, who made Starred Up? You’ll get a chance, as the film Comancheria is now rolling with that team behind the camera. Read More »
Director Duncan Jones has been coming to Comic Con with Warcraft for three years now. With the movie finally set to arrive in theaters just under a year from now, Comic-Con finally got a first look at some official footage from the video game adaptation, and it’s definitely something to talk about.
The footage on display has simultaneously some of the most beautiful visual effects footage I’ve ever seen, along with some of the most niche, heavy-fantasy, somewhat confusing story elements in recent memory. As someone who hasn’t ever dove into the world of Warcraft, I’ll do my best to break down what we saw in Hall H.

Despite the fact that Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) has already wrapped the primary shoot for Warcraft, we know almost nothing about the film. Clearly, the film is set in the world of Azeroth, introduced in the video game Warcraft and greatly expanded in other titles including World of Warcraft. And we know most of the members of the cast: Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown are all in the film. We haven’t known anything about their characters, however, until now.
