the program trailer

A few weeks ago it was announced The Program will premiere on DirecTV this month. The Lance Armstrong biopic was shot almost two and a half years ago, but The Program has taken its time getting to the big screen, for unknown reasons. The former potential awards contender is directed by Stephen Frears (High Fidelity) and, in the starring role as the disgraced cyclist, is Ben Foster.

Below, watch The Program trailer.

The Program began principal photography almost two and a half years ago, and that’s when we get our first look at actor Ben Foster in the role of Lance Armstrong. It’s an impressive transformation, but one we haven’t gotten to see on the big screen yet. After opening overseas and playing at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Stephen Frears‘ drama will premiere on DirecTV this month.

The Finest Hours Trailer

Next week brings the release of Disney’s high seas rescue drama The Finest Hours, and the film is getting a release in IMAX 3D for the most immersive experience possible. The only way it could be more immersive is if the people working at the theater kept dumping buckets of water on you. That way you can be just as wet as Chris Pine and Casey Affleck will be in this movie about what is being called the most daring Coast Guard rescue mission ever. If you need anymore convincing to see the movie, check out a four-minute IMAX trailer for the movie after the jump. Read More »

THE FINEST HOURS

At a time when our big-screen heroes typically come packaged with extraordinary abilities or cutting-edge gadgets or mystical prophecies, Craig Gillespie‘s The Finest Hours looks like a throwback. It’s a no-frills tale of heroism, made all the more remarkable by the fact that these incredible events actually too place. In 1952, a brutal nor’easter savaged New England, smashing apart an oil tanker called the SS Pendleton and leaving over 30 sailors stranded at sea. Back on the Massachusetts shore, the Coast Guard got word of the disaster, and a small team of men bravely risked their own lives to help. The incident is still considered one of the greatest rescues in Coast Guard history.

In November 2014, I had the opportunity to visit the set of The Finest Hours along with a few other journalists. We spoke with a few of the talents involved, including director Gillespie, stars Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Kyle Gallner, and John Magaro, and producers Jim Whitaker and Dorothy Aufiero. After the jump, find out what we learned on the set of The Finest HoursRead More »

The new set of Warcraft movie photos show off glimpses of three primary characters: Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel), Durotan (Toby Kebbel) and Orgrim Doomhammer (Robert Kazinsky). Check them out below! Read More »

Lance Armstrong movie

Ben Foster made an interesting revelation while promoting The Program. In the film, he plays former cycling champ Lance Armstrong, whose titles were stripped after confirmation that he used performance-enhancing drugs. To play the role, Foster went so method that he actually used performance-enhancing drugs to prep for the role.

Read what Foster had to say about that approach to the Lance Armstrong movie and what it did for him, and check out new trailer for The Program, after the break.  Read More »

Comancheria

Would you see a western-tinged heist movie starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges? What if it was written by the guy who scripted Sicario, Taylor Sheridan, and directed by David Mackenzie, who made Starred Up? You’ll get a chance, as the film Comancheria is now rolling with that team behind the camera. Read More »

Warcraft comic con 2015

Director Duncan Jones has been coming to Comic Con with Warcraft for three years now. With the movie finally set to arrive in theaters just under a year from now, Comic-Con finally got a first look at some official footage from the video game adaptation, and it’s definitely something to talk about.

The footage on display has simultaneously some of the most beautiful visual effects footage I’ve ever seen, along with some of the most niche, heavy-fantasy, somewhat confusing story elements in recent memory. As someone who hasn’t ever dove into the world of Warcraft, I’ll do my best to break down what we saw in Hall H.

CYCLING PROJECT (AT)

In the wake of the Lance Armstrong doping scandal, multiple parties were racing to adapt the story for the big screen. As of now, the winner is Stephen Frears with The Program. The first international trailer has hit today, nearly two years after we got our first look.

Ben Foster leads as the disgraced cyclist, and Chris O’Dowd is the journalist who begins to suspect Armstrong of cheating. Jesse Plemons, Lee Pace, and Dustin Hoffman also star. Watch the Lance Armstrong biopic trailer after the jump.

UPDATE: Studiocanal UK has just uploaded an English-language version of The Program trailer, with new footage. See it after the jump. Read More »
