Hannibal Renewed

Two very different shows with geek appeal are coming back for another season. NBC has just renewed Hannibal, which brings us one step closer to the fulfillment of producer Bryan Fuller‘s vision of a seven-season run. And The Goldbergs got the nod for a second season from ABC.

If you’ve got an hour to spare (and you know you do) then why not spend it with Alfonso Cuarón? The director recently sat down for a long talk on stage at BAFTA to give a detailed overview of his life and career. It’s as detailed a talk as one could expect to get in the space of an hour. The conversation is good both as an introduction to the director for people who have just found him via the Oscar-winning Gravity, and also a more intimate portrait for those who have been following him for many years.

Cuarón’s interests and great personality shine through his conversation, as he talks about the origins and casting of Gravity, his real thoughts about his film Great Expectations, and the early cinematic influences on his tastes and ambitions. Watch below. Read More »

NBC's Believe

Both J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón are using the big screen this year to explore the expansive blackness of outer space — Abrams with last week’s Star Trek Into Darkness, Cuarón with this fall’s Gravity. For their first collaboration with each other, though, they’ll be keeping things a bit more grounded.

The pair have teamed up for NBC’s Believe, a hourlong sci-fi drama about a young superpowered girl (Johnny Sequoyah) and the death row inmate (Jake McLaughlin) broken out of jail to protect her. See the first trailer after the jump.
