If you need a new way to visualize all the major events that shaped the universe in which Battlestar Galactica takes place, this might help. Billy Ray created the graphic, and says “I created this visual timeline of the Battlestar Galactica universe after the season 4, episode 17 “No Exit” data dump resulted in near aneurism for my friends and me. I later updated it to include key points from the “Caprica” pilot movie.” I still need to go back to season four and finish the series off, so can’t comment on the degree to which this helps or hurts any understanding of the timeline. So have at it in the comments, please.

Page 2

Yes, Page 2 has returned. For a while the excess bits were not enough to build a regular Page 2 column, but I’ve recently been noticing items piling up that I wished that we had gotten to post on the site, but just didn’t have time. I’m not sure how regular this column will be published (and we’ll most likely take a break during the Sundance Film Festival). That said, enjoy the return of Page 2!

The T-Shirt of the Day on TeeFury is Matt Dearden’s “Frakking Awful”, a design mash-up featuring Statler & Waldorf, the two curmudgeonly critics from The Muppets, and Adama and Tigh from Battlestar Galactica. It doesn’t get much awesomely geekier than this. As with all of Teefury’s designs, the shirt is only $9 plus shipping — the catch is that the tee will only be available today (Wednesday November 24th 2010) and today only. So act fast!

We already have one Battlestar Galactica prequel series and we soon could be getting a new one. The Syfy network just greenlit a two hour pilot called Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome which will follow a young William Adama as a Viper pilot on the battlestar Galactica during the first Cylon war. So, unlike the other BSG prequel series Caprica, Blood & Chrome will focus  more of the action that was prevalent in the reimagined 2004 series that ran for four seasons. Adama, as BSG fans know, was one of the main characters on that show. Portrayed by Edward James Olmos, he’s a legendary military leader who helps the human race survive after the enemy Cylons destroy their home. The new series will see the return of executive producer David Eick, but not show creator Ron Moore. We’ve got much more after the jump. Read More »

Steve Carell only has one season left as Michael Scott on The Office, and the showrunners are looking for an actor to take over as the show’s branch manager. Paul Lieberstein, who plays Toby on the show in addition to being a writer, producer and occasional director, already has someone in mind: Harvey Keitel.

Read what he had to say after the break. Plus: TV news bits on new shows from J.J. Abrams and Battlestar Galactica co-creator Ronald D. Moore. Read More »
