Starting Tuesday, a whole bunch of new information about the behind the scenes making of James Cameron’s Avatar is sure to hit the net as that’s when fans will begin pouring over the incredibly comprehensive Avatar Extended Collector’s Edition Blu-ray. We’ve seen the commercials all over TV and heard about some of the additions to the film and now, right before release, you can wet your palate for all things Avatar with this deleted scene from the end of the film. Titled “New Life,” it gives a glimpse of what life on Pandora is like for the Na’vi after their victory. The clip is also preceded with a primer to watching the deleted scenes, a short explanation of what visual effects might be missing and how they would have looked if completed. A trailer for the November 16th release of Avatar Extended Collector’s Edition has found its way online and, in it, we get our first glimpse of the exclusive, alternative Earth opening that can only be found on the 3-disc set. This set is beyond epic and totally makes up for the bare bones, albeit it beautiful, Blu-ray and DVD release we got a few months back. “I told our team — let’s do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want,” James Cameron said in a press release. “There’s an extended length cut that’s sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set.” Part of the “extended length cut” is this opening, which will surely help give the film even more scope.
