It’s no great surprise that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are luring in some excellent talent for Lego: The Piece of Resistance, but it’s cheerful news all the same. Chris Pratt and Will Arnett were among the first actors announced over the summer, followed by Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks a couple of months later. Now four more shining stars have just boarded the cast: Will Ferrell, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, and Liam Neeson. More after the jump.

Lizzy Caplan‘s already starred in one wedding comedy this year — the enjoyably acerbic Bachelorette — and Alison Brie got to help Emily Blunt to the altar in The Five-Year Engagement earlier this spring. Now Caplan and Brie are teaming up with one another for yet another marriage-themed romcom, playing sisters in Michael Mohan‘s bittersweet Save the Date.
Caplan plays commitment-phobic artist Sarah, who dumps her boyfriend Kevin (Geoffrey Arend) after a public proposal gone spectacularly wrong. She rebounds with sweet Jonathan (Mark Webber). In contrast, Brie’s Beth is happily preparing to spend the rest of her life with Andrew (Martin Starr) — but he seems somewhat more ambivalent about their future. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Until not so long ago, fans of Community might have been excited for, or at least interested in tonight’s TV schedule. The show’s fourth season was originally set to premiere tonight, giving us the first taste of the troubled series without creator Dan Harmon. But the shortened season, now run by David Guarascio and Moses Port, has been indefinitely delayed by NBC.
But you can have some new Community today, as the cast (Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash) has come together to create a promo to explain just what today really means for fans of the show. Hint: it’s a mental state. Read More »
We know that Chris Evans is returning for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but there has been a big question mark over the identity of his primary female co-star. Hayley Atwell was well-liked as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, but that film’s final jump forward in time makes the character not viable for the sequel.
And so there’s room for a new presence in Captain America 2, which will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Marvel is choosing among a number of popular young actresses for the role, with tests taking place. The nature of the part is undisclosed at this point, but the names suggest a key love interest. Community fans who are still reeling from the loss of showrunner/creator Dan Harmon will be happy to hear that at least some of the other key players on the series remain firmly locked in place. The entire core cast is officially set to return for the NBC comedy’s upcoming fourth season. Aside from noted discontent Chevy Chase, I don’t know that there was ever much doubt the stars would be back, but it’s good news all the same. More details after the jump.

How you feel about Nicholas Stoller‘s The Five-Year Engagement may depend on what you’re expecting. Those looking for another instant classic from producer Judd Apatow and his circle will likely be disappointed, as the new comedy proves too inconsistent to hold up against the likes of The 40-Year-Old Virgin or even Stoller’s own Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Those simply hoping for a pleasant romantic comedy with likable stars, however, will probably find that The Five-Year Engagement surpasses those standards thanks to a seriously charming lead couple (Jason Segel and Emily Blunt), and a handful of very funny gags.

Jackson (Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, Tropic Thunder), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fright Night, Superbad) and Jay Pharoah (SNL) are all set to co-star.
