Here’s the Japanese teaser trailer for The Bourne Legacy, in which previous Bourne series writer Tony Gilroy directs Jeremy Renner in a film that expands the fictional world of the Bourne films. Renner isn’t the successor to Matt Damon exactly; rather, he’s a parallel character in the same world. Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz are featured in addition to Renner.
While there isn’t too much new footage here, there is just enough to be worth a look, especially as we were pretty impressed with the US teaser. Read More »

After months — years, really — of rumors about the next James Bond film, it’s nice to finally have some actual facts to sink our teeth into. As shooting on the film began today, director Sam Mendes, his producers, and several of his stars held a press conference giving away some tidibts about the film we’ve been referring to as Bond 23. Among the things we’ve learned: the actual title of the film, which characters some of the actors will be playing, and a basic concept of the plot. More details after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
After the relatively disappointing Quantum of Solace, crippled by the writers’ strike, there are a lot of big hopes for Bond 23, which will be directed by Sam Mendes and may be called Skyfall.
While we know very little reliable info about the story that will be featured in the film, the cast is shaping up to be capable of fulfilling those hopes. Daniel Craig returns as James Bond, and Judi Dench returns to play M. And in this installment we’ll see one of M’s powerful superior government officers, played by Albert Finney. Read More »
When Universal gave Tony Gilroy a mandate to make a new Bourne film that might establish a series parallel to the existing trilogy starring Matt Damon, he pledged a story that would take place in the same world and expand upon some background elements seen in the three Damon films.
To that effect he has been recruiting actors who aren’t Matt Damon but who did play important roles in the existing trilogy. Not long ago he pulled in Joan Allen and Albert Finney to reprise their roles, and now he’s got Scott Glenn back in the fold as well. The actor will once again play CIA director Ezra Kramer in The Bourne Legacy. But not until after he plays a part in Precious director Lee Daniels‘ new film The Paperboy. Read More »
Sequel news! Jon M. Chu is assembling the cast for G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes like a kid lining up action figure purchases after Comic Con. (Too labored? Sorry. I’m trying to work out of that SDCC mentality.)
He’s got Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Lee Byun-hun returning from the first film, and Dwayne Johnson, Ray Stevenson, Elodie Yung, Adrianne Palicki, Stephen Martines, D.J. Cotrona, and RZA set for new roles. And now he’s got Joe Mazzello (The Pacific, The Social Network) playing Mouse. He’s “18-year-old Southern charmer,” who is reportedly meant to act as a lure to bring young ladies into the G.I. Joe audience. Seriously. [WhatsPlaying.au, confirmed by Deadline]
After the break, two previous Bourne actors are Bour… no, I”m not going to write that. But you get the idea. Read More »
Dustin Hoffman may be ready to make his directorial debut. He’s in talks to helm Quartet, which is being written by Ronald Harwood based on his play by the same name. The story is about an aging, retired intelligence agent who has to fend off violent attacks by younger, better armed operatives. Oops. Wait. That’s the story for Red, the movie with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and many more. This one is about elderly opera singers. Close enough? The cast is great, and the names are after the break.
